Problem with American healthcare is its all about making lots of money rather than tending to peoples maladies, in most other countries you pay a small % of your taxes to healthcare and you are covered,In America For those advocating such a plan you are labeled as an evil communist with ideas of making America a socialist country
The Republicans will tell you to your face that you hate it and it's the worst thing that you've ever experienced.
But I digress. The first thing we need to do in order to have Medicare for all is to remove the GOP from power in November and then Trump in 2020.
That wasn't the question. The question was why won't it work for everyone. No, we will not say it is the worst thing we ever had. I happen to be rather happy with Medicare as long as it stays the way it was meant to be; a supplement for seniors and not turned into socialized medicine for all. Believe me, as much as I like it, there are things I do not like. If we go with medicare for all, we can count on longer wait times to see specialists, restrictions on what procedures we can have and what tests we are allowed and less personal service. These are just for starters plus there would be a limit on how much the government will pay for some treatments. This will lead to everyone possibly needing a supplemental policy. Are you on medicare? Do you understand how it works? Are you prepared for no dental or eye coverage?

Because thats what it is and the current terrible crony insurance system is also a by-product of govt meddling.
The free market rules over all other systems.
I paid into Medicare for 40 years, now that I'm on it, it's $134 a month for me, and $134 for my wife each month. It pays 80% of your medical bills. You need a supplemental plan to pay that other 20% Medicare doesn't pay. Want a prescription plan? ....pay more. None of this is free. Dentistry? , nope you need another insurance plan for that.
Well, when you stop and think about it for a moment (if possible), Medicare today is for the oldest (65+) and those on disability.
There is no way the cost of healthcare insurance for someone age 35 would be anywhere near what the cost is for someone age 70 in a variation of Medicare for all.
Comprehend??
you are making assumptions without any figures to back it up. Of course the costs of care for younger people would be less, but the cost to the government to insure everyone would raise our taxes through the ceiling for starters.

You didn't "pay into it", you paid for someone else, just as someone working now is having their paycheck skimmed for you.
I really don't know why it can't work for all. I've had it for 15 yrs and it's the best thing in my life and I don't abuse it nor would I abuse any medical insurance.
Then you know Medicare is not free healthcare. You and your employer contributed to it your entire working life. Medicare does not cover everything which is why there is private supplimental insurance or the non traditional Advantage option.
In absence of a lifetime of contributions, what might a Medicare for all premium be?
While I am passionate about Universal Healthcare, I can’t wrap my head around a Single Payer System.

If by "contribute" you mean forced to pay for someone elses healthcare, you'd be correct.
Why is the US the only civilized nation that makes its citizens wait until 65 before they have the right to health care?
You have every right to healthcare. What the heck are you talking about? Is there a law that says you can not go to the doctors? Oh, you are talking about free I bet. I wonder what generation you are: maybe the entitlement one? Many of us raised kids, have lived many years, yes, paid into to medicare and still paid for our family insurance until we were old enough to take advantage of medicare. We did not need to give up medical care. We just had to foot part of the bill ourselves. I can remember, I am sure many can, when preventive medicine was not covered at all.
