I should probably let this go, but it's pet peeve of mine. And that's despite the fact that I prefer indie shops over Starbucks. Their coffee is just a little over a dollar, though it varies slightly by region. Whoever started spreading the myth that their coffee is expensive probably meant their frappes, not coffee.
I remember an Oprah Winfrey show many many years ago suggesting that when trying to save money, keeping a journal of expenditures. And one of the points was made that many people were spending a significant amount of money every month on Starbucks products...
Otherwise, Starbucks has marketed their cafes as a premium experience. Those coffees go towards their free WIFI and their numerous locations in expensive real estate areas. They are not a budget operation.
I've been personally boycotting Starbucks for years, and this new policy is irrelevant to my continuation of that boycott. Between their abysmal record on fair trade coffee, being wildly overpriced because of an image printed on a 2 cent cup, and their commitment to hire 10,000 illegal immigrants instead of unemployed citizens (which was their plan, no matter how many time Schultz tries to spin it)...they already had me going elsewhere for my coffee needs.
All this new virtue signaling does is reaffirm I made the correct choice in never buying their products again.

I have to agree. I don't know anyone who goes to Starbucks for actual coffee.
If they want to hire mentally ill people, that’s their business.
Oooh, edgy! Calling people you dislike mentally ill to insult them. No one has ever done that with the LGBTQ community before.
