I realize it costs a lot of money for these things, but the last thing on my mind if I'm badly injured is not wanting an EMT to assess my injuries and transport me to the hospital.

When a 45-year-old woman’s leg became caught in the gap between an Orange Line train and the platform Friday afternoon, she was in agony. The cut on her leg went down to the bone.

Beyond her pain, she had another fear. Shaking and crying, she begged people not to call an ambulance. “Do you know how much an ambulance costs?” she wept.

No idea why people freak out over medical bills. My ex racked up $10,000 worth of hospital bills (that was after insurance paid!) and told the hospital she could only afford $75/mo. The set up a payment plan and she paid that amount every month. After two years the hospital wrote it off as a loss.

That is really sad.

2018 America. The richest people in the country got record tax breaks to make them even richer, and a woman can't afford to pay a hospital bill so she BEGS the witnesses to her injury not to call first responders. Wow.

Perhaps because some past studies have shown those bills to be the leading cause of personal bankruptcies in the US? These days the $10,000 worth of hospital bills you refer to could represent little more than a few hours in an ER and a few tests.

I've refused treatment after a car accident when I was young and uninsured. After a few days not being able to walk I finally went in. Found out I had broken my knee.

As Childish Gambino said, This is America.

For the record, T-310, this was during W.'s reign. And no, I'm not blaming him. This has been a problem in America for a long time. It has nothing to do with Obamacare.
