Discarding the idea of inheriting the nature of making bad choices , its basically a choice to be homeless for most people. Illegal migrant workers are not even homeless. If high rents then roommates. The problem is most of them cannot cooperate or trust each other because they are addicts of some sort. Being homeless from doing dope or gambling does not just happen.

Some people can become temporarily homeless by miscalculations or health issues. There is also domestic abuse.

This is about the homeless.

What you see happening in SF is exactly what one expects under Capitalism.

Ok, so what do you anti capitalists suggest as a solution?

BTW, a solution that you, and other anti capitalists, will be a part of, not just pointing a finger at others to solve.

There’s no shortage of people trying to save up enough money to visit San Francisco, nor will there ever be.

Go to any travel site and book a fake trip to San Francisco. It’s more expensive than ever, and you know why? Because people LOVE it and want to go every chance they get. Know why? Because it’s one of America’s 4 or 5 greatest cities, and we only have about 6 to 8 great cities in this country as it is.

That’s a simple fact. Deal with it. It’s your cities that no one really wants to visit. Lol
SF has been off my list for years now. The decline was evident then, and it's worse now.

Friends went as a group for some sort of event. Enjoyed themselves outside of SF in Sonoma etc, but vowed never to stay or visit SF again until it's cleaned up. Disgusting is how they describe the cleanliness of the transit.

Greatest city...based on what? The rampant drug use? The bums crapping in the street? Deadbeats passed out in every other doorway? Syringes in the streets? Homeless taking over the city parks? The rising crime rates?

I was last there in '93 and it was bad then. We were at a convention for a week, right next to city hall. Deadbeats and druggies had taken over the park there-which unfortunately was where the subway stop was. Nothing like walking past deadbeats taking their morning dump in the park every morning to start the day. Bright spot at the time was the waterfront-there was a museum with a WWII sub that was a cool tour, and the sourdough chili was good. Otherwise? Not seeing much real appealing. It sounds as if the last 2 1/2 decades have not been kind either.

But of course in spite of things like the OPs link-the left will deny that there is a problem and refuse to even consider doing things to make the city better for residents or visitors.

The homeless harass passersby for money, too.

In fact-it's the opposite. Under capitalism, people create businesses, employ others that are in turn able to provide for themselves-and live where their income allows them to afford to. If capitalism were embraced there-the deadbeats and druggies that produce nothing would be forced to move elsewhere-somewhere they COULD afford to live, or be pressured to actually, I don't know-get a job? But no, under the "sympathetic" socialist system of SF (and CA in general) druggies and bums are enabled, allowed to live wherever they choose to sleep, crap in public, handed free food and syringes. This mess is caused by the socialist policies of the city leaders. Sadly-it is capitalism that is forced to fund it though. So I guess you ARE partly right-if it weren't for capitalism there wouldn't be wealth for the city leaders to expropriate and hand out to the bums.

San Francisco tourism threatened by homeless and drug addicts
Tenderloin is pretty bad, but that is nothing new. SF is one of the cities which you don't need to visit more often than once. I guess most US cities are that way.
