A NY Giants player lost three fingers goofing around with fireworks a couple of years ago. He posted some pics of his hands to promote the dangers of fireworks.
I am a "risk versus rewards" type of guy. I don't mess with them because the risk of this type of injury is too high for the minutes of enjoyment you get out of it. I will leave the fireworks to the experts.

Thanks for the reminder. I love fireworks. I'm always very careful with them, but we can't have them here. Too many trees in the yard, and forest on one side and in the back. VERY bad idea.
Ugh...around here, it's a week straight of M80s, cherry bombs, and roman candles blasted off all throughout the night.
I get that some people want to be patriotic, but at least after the holiday itself, they need to be considerate and let neighbors actually sleep through the night.

I'll never forget a roommate I had in college who while we were studying one night said 'Hey, look at this'. I looked up to see an eyeball in his hand, I didn't know he'd lost the original in a fireworks accident. It's been a vivid reminder to me for almost 50 years.
The Feds get in on the act... in 2017 - 8 deaths and 12,900 injuries were reported from fireworks incidents.
