As for what happens when you start giving out helicopter money, it is pretty simple. The prices of everything rise until you're shoveling wheelbarrows of money into the store for a loaf of bread. But a loaf of bread is just a loaf of bread whether it "cost" $1 or $10 or $100.
This is not true in the real world. Studies show that more often than not increasing the money supply does not trigger inflation. Other factors that can, but not always, contribute to inflation include supply-demand imbalances, wages, interest rates, currency exchange rates, government debt issuance and central bank activities.
If helicopter money caused inflation then Bernanke's QE would've triggered it. It didn't.
Many people earn a decent income but the cost of housing is the problem. Depending on where you live making $15, $20 an hour is nothing. How about we go after the developers who want to charge a fortune to basically live in an apartment not much bigger than a closet. I have no idea how to do that but we seem to be catering to the developers.

How about we go for the root cause: the government? It’s the government that prevents anybody from building more houses or even from allowing more people to live in the same room.

What we need is more affordable housing. Is that the governments fault or the developers who buy the land. Government doesn't decide the cost.
What if I said that people getting basic income would get the bare essentials. Basic life support, but if they want more in life they gotta work for it. Or they can stay stagnant, while not homeless, still poor, and still a “loser”. But if you wanna better yourself, you don’t have to worry about losing your apartment or going hungry, but to get more in life you gotta work for it. To not work keeps you in stasis.
I assume then that all the people here complaining about giving the poor money that they don't "deserve" are also against politicians earning $50,000 for a two hour speech.
Only if the politician is wearing hideous pantsuits while giving the speech.
Actually, I don't care if a politician gets $50,000 for a two-hour speech. I would, however, question the wisdom of those paying for the speech, especially since the politician will have surely exhausted any meaningful content they may have had to convey ten minutes into it.
Are we sure that the OP is 'granpa'? Basic income seems like an idea from granma (OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE COMMUNIST
PARTY OF CUBA CENTRAL COMMITTEE).
