I really believe that a lot of Russian money filtered into the Republican pockets. Most went to Trump, other money filtered into GOP PAC's.
Mueller may be finding a very large conspiracy, with our oligarchs. Those such as Ross, DeVos, and Sinclair. All of whom have connections to Russia and their money.
This goes for other countries also. Trump has no problem poking them in the eyes. I believe we should strive to get along with every country. That does not mean that we lead them around on a leash.
