Will you stop making up stupid scenarios? Please? If that's the best you can do - "what if parents rent out their children to coal mines during the day and brothels at night". Too bad, then that's that. I'll allow for self-emancipation at 16, then the rented out child miners and part time sex slaves with black lung and herpes can run away. The dopeyness...

I was on another thread where, apparently, I was the only stupid one who thought capital was the problem. The problem is rent seeking. Wealthy people look for ways to collect assets that generate passive income which is basically a toll booth society. The wealthy love conflating real capital with coercive confiscation enforced by they same government they claim to hate.

What's the answer by the drooling mind numbed left? Minimum wage laws which cannot work al long as rent seeking is in effect.

The one thing the conservatives do do is give good personal advice. Get a roommate. Sleep all day in the library if you must.

The one thing leftists do is put a gun on everyone’s head and force them to pay.

There should be no purchase of non essentials until the emergency fund is built up .

This just is not stressed enough in our society.

Walk into any “poor household “ and you’ll find non essential purchases I bet in the majority of the case .

there are a ton of opportunities but people have to take advantage of them . If someone is playing video games or just hanging out with friends it’s hard to feel sorry for them .
Not saying every poor person does this but many do .

If you are only listening or spending time with those in your situation you are unlikely to advance .

Most wealthy people became wealthy from sacrificing in some way . They resisted the strong temptation to spend every penny and invested the money wisely instead .

I’ve known and studied many wealthy people and this is what they do .

Not sure what you mean the wealthy do not “earn” their money .

You think owning property is totally passive money ? It’s not . Especially in lower income areas there is a lot of drama and headaches .

Why not build up your own assets ? Seems like a better strategy is to play the capitalist game instead of hating it and hoping to change our system to socialism , especially since socialism has a track record of failure .

If you are against people owning rental property and providing housing and managing that property , what do you propose ? Confiscation of people’s property and let the government run things ?
Ever been to a public housing project ?

See, this is the problem with your thinking. Not everyone fits into a neat little box. Not everyone "spends every penny", not everyone wastes away the day playing video games, or watching their 60" TV. That is a stereotype of poor people that really needs to stop. I realize you put the little byline in there about "not every poor person does this", but when you say stuff like that, you are perpetuating that myth, even if you don't mean to.

That being said, you would probably say my husband and I made "non essential" purchases after my son was born. For that matter, you would probably say he was "non essential". However, being that I am not a parent who cares about their child's well being, I did buy the good diapers (the cheap ones gave him a rash), I bought the best butt cream (it was the only one that seemed to work), I even pureed his food once he got to that point, just so I would know what he was getting. None of that is "essential", but I chose to do the best I could with what I had.

We did not have a big nest egg built up or anything, but we did it anyways. I explained why I got pregnant when I did, previously, so I won't rehash that. Yet we still did what we deemed to be in the best interest of our child. We didn't spend money on video games or game systems. We didn't buy big TV's or other electronics. We bought a house within our means. Once I lost my job, after being out due to health issues for too long, we were in trouble. We got out of it, but that isn't the point. Not everyone is so lucky, and not everyone can save $100k before living their life.

It's cute that you guys think that the entirety of the population can do so, but it simply is not reality, and never will be. Sure, it may be for some, such as those who have parents with money, or those who made it through college with no debt, or those who get lucky with a good job immediately after graduating, but that isn't how life works for most.

I wouldn't start calling anybody on the right morons.

Facts don't care about your opinion:

1. 70% of the rich people lose their wealth by the 3rd generation. 90% by the 4th generation.
2. 80% of millionaires are first generation rich and self made.

No. You live in a black & white world so here's your black & white reality. Before the state got involved, parents would sell or rent their children to minimize their burden. That's what you advocate to make your exploitation wet dream a reality. If you don't like the scenarios, then stop espousing ideas backed by depravity and greed.

And the one thing Conservatives don't do is use math to solve problems.
