So utterly predictable.

Yet another sex abuse scandal. Hand wringing by the catholic church and lofty talk about how they will crack down on this. Hypocrites.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Revelations that one of the most respected U.S. cardinals allegedly sexually abused both boys and adult seminarians have raised questions about who in the Catholic Church hierarchy knew — and what Pope Francis is going to do about it.

If the accusations against Cardinal Theodore McCarrick bear out — including a new case reported Friday involving an 11-year-old boy — will Francis revoke his title as cardinal? Sanction him to a lifetime of penance and prayer? Or even defrock him, the expected sanction if McCarrick were a mere priest?

And will Francis, who has already denounced a "culture of cover-up" in the church, take the investigation all the way to the top, where it will inevitably lead? McCarrick's alleged sexual misdeeds with adults were reportedly brought to the Vatican's attention years ago.

What about the hand wringing of the legal system? If this man is guilty of child molestation, why isn’t he in prison?

Because the RCC improperly would protest to their flock that is an anti-Catholic action, and their flock stupidly, would often accept it.

I am an EX RCC guy, attended RCC schools mostly, but I favor the following:

(1) Charge bishops who move perps around under RICO, and go for max jail sentence, max security prison.

(2) End the Statue of Limitations, nationally, via federal law, on reporting sexual abuse by priests, ministers, deacons, etc

(3) Forbid Bankruptcy Court to ever void liabilities from sexual abuse settlements

and

(4) Execute the settlements within 365 days of final appeal, auctioning church property if required.

Why limit this to priests, ministers, or deacons? End it for everyone.

The Catholic Church is still extremely powerful and influential.

Because they conspired, decade after decade, to shield pedophiles.

I would agree the statue ending should be universal, as should the Bankruptcy code change

Texas bishop: hold McCarrick and his enablers accountable

"The Church needs to do more than have a serious conversation about these issues, it needs to discern in light of the Truth and to act intentionally,” Olson told CNA July 28. “If conversation does not lead to decision, it quickly devolves into chatter.”

“An important ministry for us as bishops is to ‘see, judge, and act.’ It’s not enough to see. Yet, seeing clearly leads to sound judgment that requires fortitude for us to act,” he added. “If we don't do that as pastors we sell our vocation as shepherds in exchange for a career as hirelings.”

Anyone who voluntarily walks into a Catholic church (i.e. not kids) tacitly approves of child molestation. Shame on you!

As a now-ex Catholic - here's how I see it. The church hierarchy no longer worships God, they worship the institution of the Church. They are more interested in maintaining their early power and prestige than they are in protecting the people of God. They should all be in jail, IMHO. Anyone who still looks to these people for moral guidance and listens to them carp about sin while being no just sinners, but criminals, needs to do so real soul searching.
