Heck, the Kochs even have a place on the Cape....so, yeah......some truth to that.

They like places where oil refineries aren't sitting right next to them.

Some nice places too - generally in the 7 million to 20 million range. Usually one of 5-7 houses they own, so they only spend a couple weeks here.
Sorta like Bernie?

You can add SC to that list Charleston and Greenville are being overrun. And Myrtle beach.

California used to be a largely Republican state until the late 80s. Same for Florida (which is now more of a moderate state). Minnesota is still holding strong. Oh, and people are still moving to Washington and Oregon.

A better thing to consider is this Tale of Four Southern Cities: Austin, Baton Rouge, Columbia, Raleigh Durham. They all have the following characteristics: state captials, host their state's flagship universities, broadly similar weather (especially winter temperature). In 1970, all four metro areas had similar population sizes. Yet, the first and last left the other two in the dust long ago. Even before the high-tech boom, both Austin and Raleigh-Durham were far and away the most liberal areas in otherwise conservative states. BTW, resources (even oil) doesn't really matter. Yes, Texas had oil to fund it, but so does Louisiana. North Carolina has no oil, yet is also high-tech rich. If lack of oil isn't a problem for Raleigh-Durham, then Columbia should have developed high-tech with comparative ease, given it also has a warm winter climate and low taxes. But it didn't!

So if oil is neither an advantage nor disadvantage in high tech industries, and all four cities have similar climates (especially winter ones), then how come Austin and the NC Triangle boomed while Baton Rouge and Columbia stayed largely on the rocks?

Added: Point being, even in the South, the greatest growth of industry, especially the cuttingest-edge highest paying ones, tends to take place in its least conservative areas.

Ignorant Democrat partisans, who live in states like NY or CA, who have never been to or experienced any other part of America think that anyone who lives outside of NY or CA is ignorant.

The modern members of the Democrat party think that regular Americans in places like Indiana or Georgia or Montana are ignorant. They think we don't deserve equal representation and they would like to invalidate the Constitution.

West Virginia is beautiful as we vacationed there 2 years ago. But someone like me wouldn't fit I'm as I possess a mouthful of my own teeth.

What an elitist comment to make. So, you're subjecting an entire area and the people to your standards? An area subjected to Democrat control for decades.
