They already get 25 billion per year in direct subsidies against NAFTA rules. What's another 12 billion or so of taxpayer money spent to subsidize them?

Giving farmers money is a political move to hold his base. Having to do this because of his ill-thought out trade wars is disturbing. Once you start diddling with economic markets it becomes a nightmare of bandaids and bailouts.
