Remember, Trump got none of the corporate financial backing in 2016, it all went to Hillary. The corporations knew Trump was 'America first' and that's not good for their global business models. Now he's leveling the scales via NAFTA, using tariffs and generally upsetting the corporate apple cart.

That's not to say Trump is anti-corporation, he's not. He wants them to invest here, hire here & take care of Americans workers. What he won't do is sell out the American worker, or farmer, in favor of the corporations. That's why they hate him so much.

Perhaps, but are you of a mind that the preponderance of funding won't end up going to large agribusiness companies?

GOOD. I want farmers to know that I don't appreciate paying them another $12 BILLION in welfare on top of the $20+ BILLION in subsidies they receive every year. What other business gets subsidies like this? Show me a farmer and I'll tell them to their faces. They voted for Trump. Why am I paying for Trump's mess? Are these farmers going to reimburse the country? We need to end this farmer welfare and we need to end farmer subsidies. I am FINE with farmers knowing that. Remember when Republicans complained about auto bailouts? I sure do. And that was a recession while this was completely self-inflicted by Trump.

That's your biased perception.

He has been unyielding, unwilling to play like a five year old-- name calling, rants and rages....just sticking to business.

Someone has to be the adult in the room. It isn't as exciting for some that like a show but that's okay.

Chrystia Freeland Minister of Foreign Affairs has also been strong, unyielding and refusing to resort to childish tactics.

And as for impact on the Canadian economy....
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/busi...e-experts-say/
Even if exports to the United States shrank to nothing and Canada ceased producing steel and aluminum, it would only shave a tiny sliver off the Canadian economy. And these tariffs aren’t going to wipe out an industry; at worst, they will put a dent in demand and pricing power. Bad news for the industry, and for some of the people working in it and related businesses – but likely containable for the broader economy.

“The tariffs … will likely have a moderately negative but manageable impact on all countries involved,” RBC senior economist Nathan Janzen said.

The meat industry is taking a big hit due to Trumps trade war.

Would you expect nations that have built prosperous economies around one-sided trade deals with the US to willingly surrender the goose that lays the golden eggs?

Of course they are going to throw a hissy fit, but in the end, they will have to buy our products or they can simply take their wares elsewhere.

It's good to see even right wing Redstate coming clean about farmers. Of course because they are full on Trump supporters, they will excuse Trump on this (and blame Congress for not taking his tariffs away) but at least they admit that farmers suck up more money than probably any other demographic including Appalachian coal miners.

"There are very few classes of American that are as subsidized as the American farmer. Farms that would otherwise go under are kept afloat by government subsidies. Ethanol mandates and corn subsidies keep corn farmers in business. They are an industry that is almost universally reliant on government aid."

Well if that is the case, then why get all up in arms with Russians making feeble attempts to influence our elections, which has been going on for many elections now?
Heck, aside from our country doing the same thing to other nations, the 2016 efforts were all on Obama's watch, and he dismissed it as a futile effort. You guys ignore his shortcomings and Obama's feckless eunuch demand that Putin "knock it off", yet expect Trump to start WWIII during a joint summit.
Anything less is treason, right?
Of course 2016 was a stealth effort on the part of the Russians, where as the Chinese seem very brazen & open about their efforts.

One wonders how you'd feel if the exact same scenario were occurring with the Chinese attempting to undermine a (D) president with the same tactics.

WHAT?

He's not using his money -- he is using our money -- and is buying votes -- like any other swamp politician.

He's not fixing anyone's mistakes but his own.

Trade not AID as the farmers are saying.
Quite unbelievable that he is getting away with raping the USA.

Wasn't it Trump and Bannon who decided that disruption was the best method to create change in the USA? Disruption is well undertaken, but it has triggering something that Trump could never control.

Trump seems a bit power crazy at this time, almost as though he can't believe that he can get away with what he's doing. However, since he continues to get away with it, he seems determined to be more outrageous each day.

Isn't it a one time temporary fix? The tariffs are not going away, but if the subsidy returns to normal, only 20 billion will be given to farmers, not the newly announced 32 billion.

No, Trump is gifting the money, not loaning the money, so the money will not be repaid. However, this appears to be a one time deal intended to appease the farmers who voted Trump, so the gift may have no impact.

... but you never know, stupid remains stupid.
