For those who recall the beginning of the Iraq war circa 2003 it was very common to call George W Bush a neocon. That was a fair label because he fit the definition...someone promoting Democracy through military means. Neocons always have a pro-Israel/anti-Russia worldview. At one time they were Democrats, eventually became Republicans and today are in the establishment of both parties.

In 2003 and the first few years of the Iraq war Democrats would toss around the term neocon liberally. Many had no understanding of the word. They actually thought neo-conservative meant conservative extremist. Now here it is 15 years later and many of those same Democrats spouting off about neocons are taking the neocon position that Russia is our worst enemy. The Trump-Putin meeting upset the hell out of them. They have transformed into neoconservatives not on purpose but becauuse that's where the Democrat establishment led them.

Let's keep in mind that in the last Presidential election (2016), it was the Democrat who voted to approve the Iraq war. Voted again & again for the next 8 years to fund it.

And it was the Democrat candidate who played parts in the atrocious wars of choice against Yemen, Libya, and Syria. She also push to vastly increase the war in Afghanistan which was essentially over at that point.

She is the head of the Democrat party. Now they push for a new cold war with Russia, and are mad as hell that Trump is in their way.

and all the while railing against the war, along with a number of other prominent democrats who also voted for the war and continued funding for the war.

When Hillary thought it was politically good for her, she jumped right up there on the war wagon with NBC and poured out the French wine while eating a big bag of Freedom Fries.

She and her husband are two of the biggest war mongers on the planet.

Blah blah blah...98% of our federally elected officials seem to support war at some time. Regardless of their party.

Haven't used the term "neocon" for 15 years, and even then it was not particularly useful. Regardless of what label you use, the emergence of the dittoheads (remember that term?) the Tea Party and the rest of the tagalong ultra Right neo-fascist movement is what ultimately led to the election of Trump. What difference does it make what label you use? This is just a distraction from the reality of the situation.

No, all (or almost all) politicians are pro-war...not the American people.

We haven't had a "left" in this country since the days of the Weathermen and the SDS back in the 60's. We have been moving steadily to the right since Nixon and now we are so far to the Right of the center than centrists simply look like "leftists". The idea that recent centrist Democrat Presidents were "leftists" is just a convenient fantasy.
