Do you believe that is NOT the purpose. Even money or better that Google and some of the larger established tech companies in the city pushed for it. Cheap way to attract talent-or at least keep them from going to a competitor.

Bigger question-what in the bloody **** makes SF bureaucrats think they have any business telling a private enterprise that they can not have a cafeteria on site? Overreach in the extreme. But hey-it's CA, hardly unexpected.

Siding with giant corporations over the people in the towns where they operate... this is where conservatism goes off the rails.

Crap like this is exactly why people are walking away.

No need to work because
Free housing
Free food
Free house
Free electric/water/gas utilities
Free healthcare

Where everyone is economically equal
A lot of gay sex
A very diverse population of many ethnic segments
Only trained government officials have guns.

Would that work for you?

The government shouldn't be siding with anyone. If a company is not physically hurting someone with their actions, like having a restaurant on their premises, then leave them the hell alone. What's next, people who work at grocery stores must prove that they shop at other companies on a daily basis or face a penalty for not spreading the "wealth" around?

That tyrant and his lackeys in congress are already here------and he's not a democrat.

You feel sorry for Facebook, one of the most powerful companies in the world, having the big, bad local government of Mountain View, CA regulate them? Sorry, but I can't even begin to wrap my mind around that attitude.

That sounds like a bad idea, and I kinda doubt it's next.

If the law says "fully subsidize" it's a waste of paper.

Facebook charges a 1c a head cover charge per day for every employee, for coffee, soda, snacks, lunch and/or dinner. Thus subverting the law. They can give a 5c raise to everyone to cover the cost too. I mean in reality they could do this with any amount, because whatever the daily charge is covers the cost of the raise, so it's purely figure shuffling with net zero outcome, and the cost of catering is already paid by FB.
