In December, Hassan prevented a black man from fully entering the Boylston Street store about 20 minutes before closing, according to the complaint, even though white people were walking in and shopping. Hassan allegedly told the man, “I do not want your kind in my store,” and implied that he didn’t have enough money to shop there.
The previous March, a woman of Middle Eastern descent who was shopping for a pair of boots said Hassan repeatedly asked her where she was from, according to the complaint. Hassan allegedly told her he didn’t trust immigrants and said, “I love Trump! I am glad he is going to get rid of all the immigrants.”
As she was leaving, Hassan allegedly shouted at her, “Get out of here! We don’t want you here! I don’t trust your people!”
Perhaps one of them was a known shoplifter. When I lived there, subway announcements would warn people of known pickpockets on the train. It wasn't a generic announcement but a live one.
What happened to the "We reserve the right to refuse service to ANYONE" mentality that was the industry standard for so long? Someone wants the reputation of refusing business/money, let them have it.

Do you even take the time to think before defending anybody who wrongs a minority?
The MA AG filed charges against the guy. An AG's office isn't filing charges without looking into the situation first. They definitely would not be filing charges, and using these individuals if they had a history of shoplifting at the store.

You can't just let them have it. There are plenty of small towns in this country where there are only 1 or 2 general stores. If they happen to be owned by discriminatory pricks who deny service, than the people being discriminated against are left in a terrible bind.
The law, and enforcement of the law have not changed. Protected classes have been around for a long time, and they can't be denied service on those grounds. The difference now is that people are reporting it, we often have video evidence, and the stories are being reported.
**** anybody who attempts to deny service to someone based entirely on their race, ethnicity, religion, etc.
That's not what this country is about.
