Ah... We're talking about Christopher Steele here. MI6 expert on Russia, and well connected to Russian information sources.

"Innuendo and rumors" were precisely what he was hired to collect and report. Did you read Simpson's testimony?

... and someone who hates Trump, and used pure hearsay, paying his Russian sources (talk about paying foreigners to obtain dirt on a candidate...) to concoct his dossier.

The dossier about which McCabe, when asked in a Congressional hearing whether they managed to confirm anything at all in it, answered that the only thing they managed to confirm was that Carter Page had, indeed, traveled to Moscow. The fact that was covered in press at the time it happened, and was no secret.

As in:

"Investigators say McCabe recounted to the panel how hard the FBI had worked to verify the contents of the anti-Trump “dossier” and stood by its credibility. But when pressed to identify what in the salacious document the bureau had actually corroborated, the sources said, McCabe cited only the fact that Trump campaign adviser Carter Page had traveled to Moscow. Beyond that, investigators said, McCabe could not even say that the bureau had verified the dossier’s allegations about the specific meetings Page supposedly held in Moscow."

Educate yourself. Its all in the testimony. Sensitive informaton would not have been revealed, confirmed, or denied by anyone with the FBI in an open hearing.

And here are PDFs of the "Dossier":

What does the testimony of Glen Simpson, a private citizen, have to do with what McCabe - an FBI agent, who is definitely not pro-Trump - said about the FBI's inability to confirm anything in the dossier?

He still has sources inside Russia that is how he obtained the details, but since his conclusions don’t agree with your opinion it has to be just rumors. Do you think agents like Steele travel around Russia gathering research. He would be put in jail or worse if he ever returned.

Evidently he does have “current ties” we call them sources.

And yet the FBI/DOJ used that admitted "innuendo and rumors" to obtain FISA warrants. Without, of course, telling FISA that those were just "innuendo and rumors".

Nope. The FISA application dedicated a full page to explaining who Steele was and who financially backed funding Fusion GPS. It also described the sources of Steele’s information, and advised to what extent they were independently corroborated by the FBI.
