Gates admitted he stole from Manafort because he has immunity. the accountant had immunity and admitted she lied on the tax returns and you think he's getting off. The only way he's getting off is if he has a buddy in his cell.

Gates doesn’t have immunity. He is a cooperating witness but is likely going to jail for a long time
I think there will be little from Manafort's attorney to prove Gates is lying--because proving he is lying will likely incriminate Manafort even more...
Look at the physical evidence---
The accounts are there--they were real--not faux--and they WERE Manafort's
They were NOT on his income tax filings
What confusion is there about tax fraud w/that type of proof???
And Manafort's wife signed lot of those tax returns didn't she?
What is her exposure as being accomplice to tax fraud?
Is that a squeeze option Mueller or any other legal agency (NY state for example) have explored to compel Manafort to cooperate???
I don't pretend to know how this trial will turn out, but the turning point of it is going to be the defense's cross examination of Gates. They are going to go after him as aggressively as any of us have probably ever seen in a trial like this.
Will that be enough? I do not know. But it should be kept in mind that the prosecution has to prove INTENT to defraud in order for Manafort to be convicted. Which is a pretty high bar, especially when these fraudulent actions were apparently all carried out by Rick Gates, and not Paul Manafort
I am getting the impression that the September case against Manafort is more likely to result in a conviction than this one is, but we will see soon enough.
What does any of this have to do with finding collusion between Trump and the Russian government?
I watch Hannity - and you if you don't, you should at least once (that's all you need, he tells the same story every day). That should be enough to show you the many holes in this investigation that seems to tilting at windmills.
