So, the daughter of South Korean parents who voluntarily moved to the U.S. when Ms. Jeong was three years old, and who has so obviously benefited from being raised in the U.S., sees fit to "trash" the skin color and ethnicity of many of the people who helped* to make her past and current success possible? Or am I mistaken in my assumptions, and she was educated entirely by non-white people?
As others have said, if it was personal one-on-one rebuttal, that might be understandable, but I think she made it undeniably clear that she was speaking of white people in general, and that is just as inexcusable, in my opinion, as a Eurowhite saying that all members of a certain minority group are worthless garbage. And for the NYT to continue to defend her and their decision to hire her is nothing short of hypocrisy, imo.
*Of course, much of her success was based on her own merits, too, but I think anyone who claims that their success is to due his or her own efforts alone is delusional, with very few exceptions.

Jeong is claiming her tweets were "jokes" too. Double standard much?
You can tell she is not joking, and that video of her giving a lecture about the country sucks because of white men says it all.
She is just using that as cover for her being misandrist and racist. It also means she is also a coward because she is hoping to get away with something she believes, but is now getting push back on.
Just because she is a yellow female does not allow her to disparage other races or men. Had the exact same woulds come out of a white persons mouth (man or woman), you know the NYT's would never have made pathetic excuses for them, nor have hired them.
This is little different than the black woman hired as a professor said "while males are a problem with this country".
Or the white female professor saying "the white-nuclear family is one of the most powerful forces supporting white supremacy,” adding that that families “reproducing white children” are “part of the problem” as they facilitate white supremacy in the country.
Yet where are the demands these people be run out of town, lose their jobs, even their careers by the leftist media, or so called civil rights groups?
She sounds like a perfect fit for the NTY's, which went from "the paper of record" or "grand old lady" to an American version of Pravda.
But the good little communist/socialist apparatchiks keep subscribing.
Her journalism and the fact that she is a young Asian woman have made her a subject of frequent online harassment.
And here we have the world view of the liberal left. Merely by being an Asian woman -- or, let's be honest, by being anything other than a white male -- she is therefore automatically the subject of frequent online harassment. Must be a miserable existence, to always think that everyone is out to get you because of your race and/or your gender. I guess lashing out at the white male bogeyman is how these people cope with their own feelings of inadequacy.
We aren't speaking about the many Black athletes and entertainers that have made racial comments in regard to Whites that you are willfully blind to. If that's your goal, then I can easily counter your Josh Hader example with Jamie Fox and many other people who are as equally irrelevant to this conversation. Leaving this issue, still, as stand-alone.
We are speaking about one overtly racist person who is being positioned to have inordinate influence over a primary source of ostensibly objective information for public consumption.
Your counter-example is irrelevant and this issue stands. Your spin merely comes off as unreasonably biased and, frankly, outs the Left as racially interested and hostile to Whites in general.
Exactly right. There are racists of all colors and political persuasions. How about we denounce all of it? Instead, what portions of the left do far too often, is actually praise racism when it is directed at white people.
I didn't have anything to do with how people were treated in the past. I've always treated people fairly based upon who they are. Not on the color of their skin. How about we stop acting like white people of today are the evils of society?
