Right now, the only news sources most people believe are those that have a clear pro-Trump bias such as Fox News, Breitbart, InfoWars, etc. As soon as a news source becomes critical of Trump it's automatically disregarded as fake news. Does anybody find this a bit alarming? I mean, we are in a situation in this country where most people have chosen to blindly follow an authoritarian leader and refuse to believe anything negative they hear about him. While dictators of the past have enacted restrictions on the press in order to force positive coverage, Trump has been successful at convincing Americans to simply disregard any coverage of him that is negative or critical as fake. In essence, Fox News has filled the role of a state-run propaganda network pushing Trump's agenda, not too different from Soviet Central Television, and most people are just fine with that and don't even question it. In fact, most people are placing their anger towards "mainstream" sources because they are critical of their beloved leader. Why does this not bother more people?

Is "most people" referring to Americans in general? Or to strongly partisan voter subsets, regular consumers of particular media sources, or residents of a specific (probably dark red) state? I have a hard time believing that "most people" in this country have a consistent opinion on all that many political personalities and issues - let alone the current president.

Those frustrated with the current regime would be well served by directing their energy towards helping elect candidates who are inclined to place a check on the administration, rather than drawing conclusions about the thought processes of "most people" who spend little time focused on politics one way or the other.

Regardless of which party is in control I am more skeptical of any positive praise from the press. Their job is to check political power, not publish puff pieces for them.

How did we get to the point where any news critical of the President is automatically fake?

Yet another "I can't refute what they're saying, so I'll make up something that isn't true, pretend they're saying that instead, and bash them for it" whine from the usual suspects?

(yawn)

Who are most people?

Any news that questions or criticizes Trump is Fake News, according to Trump.

Apparently, Trump sees value in a state-controlled media such that is enjoyed by Putin.

Trump is the most frequent source of Fake News. Like Hannity, Trump used a variation of " people are saying..." to express opinions as facts.

Seems to me, Trump's popularity would soar if he laid off Twitter and modified his rhetoric.

Because CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS supported Hillary in 2015/2016 and trashed every other candidate who ran (even democrats, like Bernie Sanders). Now that Hillary lost in November 2016, all those outlets are all angry and bitter, and willing to trash Trump no matter what.

When did we reach the point that pointing out the lies and exaggeration o the left leaning Time Warner owned CNN was such a problem?

It's fake when they try to run an opinion as fact which is what they do 99.9% of the time these days or they use "allegedly" or unnamed sources then later retract what they said because they got it completely wrong. When they start off with any of those things I just assume it's fake news because most of the time it is.
