"injustices from the past still haunt minorities today."
It is about time they got over it.
I am Irish and do NOT act like many blacks do and we were SEVERELY discriminated against.
"For example, almost all black university students must take out student loans;"
MOST ALL STUDENTS take out student loans.
"that's mostly because minorities inherit almost nothing in terms of generational wealth"
I guess we should get rid of the Equal Rights Act and Affirmative Action because they are NOT doing anything.
"and the market value of homes in minority areas plummeted due to redlining that occurred many years ago."
Market value plummeted for EVERYBODY.
But as we all know the “powers that be” gave you guys land, tools, and training to repair the damage they caused so have a seat with that “I’m Irish and was discriminated against too” nonsense. Your community has been considered White and free from discrimination about 100 years no.
I wonder how someone like you thinks this is believable?
Make something else up. Your entire post is nothing more than meaningless drivel that doesn't address the fact that children who come from single parent families are much worse off than children who come from 2 parent families.
You likely should look across America, Truth will conclusively show there are "more" single white mothers in America, than any other ethnic group. Furthermore, it is not likely any mother just becomes one, with a dream of only wanting to be a single mother.
These truths and facts is not something that Right Wing Media will speak about, nor will it speak about the fact there are more white "second marriage families" than any other ethnic group.
Now, that is not to say a single parent home is any asset to any ethnic people, it is merely stating a fact that America has a vast segment of single parents homes, so.. trying to focus only on the matter as iif it only relates to black people, ignores the whole truth.
It also goes to ignore "real facts"!! real facts are recorded by the FBI when it comes to crimes, and one should consider that "fully" rather than a single focus.
The incessant aims at trying to proclaim the fictions of white superiority will always fall into the snare it tries to entrap others who are non white. It's a pointless spin. Denial does not phase the truth... "truth" remains being "truth", no matter how frequently or by what means it is attacked.
When I lived in another state, I had bought two Porsche's, a Mercedes, a BMW, and other cars at a single point in time;
Racist Envy rose its head, as "some" of the white men at work had the audacity to ask me, "how did I get it", and implied I must be doing something illegal to have gotten these things. Yet, they had the jacked up trucks, a car, boats, ATV and Jet Ski's and other items, but expected no one should even remotely consider the thought they did anything illegal to get it.
That's the cycles of envy that racism promotes. As for me, I was glad to see anyone get what they wanted, because that is what they wanted. If something is for sale, anyone who wants it can buy it if that's what they want to spend their money on.
Racism will always demonstrate its Ignorance when its the choice of attitude one adopts. Sadly there are so many ways that Racism presents itself, and then people act like others are suppose to be blind to it, simply because often the racist feels entitled to be racist.
Show proof this happens. We already know for a fact that Affirnative Action paves the way for less qualified individuals to get jobs over more qualified individuals.
You don't understand the program... Its about "%" being represented, and that includes something that has benefited the once omitted white women too, it also involved industries within the system that was dominated by white people both white male and white female, as well as the system that were once dominated by simply white men.
In some cases and areas Affirmative Action sadly is still needed in America.
With some of the attitudes expressed in this site by some white people, it will continue to be needed for some time to come.
Affirmative Actions does not imply the people are unqualified, or don't have the skills, its about people having opportunity and not being omitted by 'fictitiously over enhanced criteria', that does not apply evenly to white people. The words criteria, was and in some cases is still utilized as the "covert" way to imply and infer discrimination of both minorities and in some cases discrimination against women as well.
But as we all know the “powers that be” gave you guys land, tools, and training to repair the damage they caused so have a seat with that “I’m Irish and was discriminated against too” nonsense. Your community has been considered White and free from discrimination about 100 years no.
What kind of comment is that? Real History that was not taught in schools has meaning No one tells the Jews to get over the Holcaust. But, people are quick to want to tell black people what to get over, while racism and prejudice still is existing in society.
There is much that is still to be revealed unto the broader American public about the horror and atrocities of racism, as well as much to be exposed as to the reality of racism's existence in this 21st Century America.
If one has a magic fix, where people can be seen as just people, then wave that wand!!!! over society. instead of the ethnicity designation being stated when it relates to a black person or any non white person. When one can make it where society see's people as simply "A Man" or "A Woman".... It will be better for everyone.

lol Yes I do. Is it because I'm white and white people don't get it? If you have to make things up about what I know, you've already lost.

No it's not needed. It's never needed. When you say percentages you are implying that blacks are equal to whites percentage wise when we know that's not true. A white person is going to be more educated and have more experience and therefore be more qualified. Nothing to do with the skin color. If blacks are 13% of the population doesn't mean that 13% are qualified for a job and therefore 13 percent of management should be black. Compare apples to apples. When that was done the pay scale difference between men and women for similar jobs was negligible and in some cases women earned more.
Minorities made large gains before the Civil Rights Act due to education.

Good to see you reaffirm your racism.

Of course it implies that. Why are there so many lawsuits from qualified non blacks who don't get hired or promoted or accepted into college?

Criteria is the use of information that legitimate businesses use during the hiring process.

No Irish Need Apply disappearing from the newspapers in the 1930s didnt mean the discrimination against them stopped. That's not how it works.
Granted it wasn't as bad after that because that's what happens when your group starts making the rules. Meaning getting hired in law enforcement.
