I was a member of the NRA. Got tired of the bombardment of e mails and phone calls wanting money.

I used to get tons of mailings from them. I contacted them to ask that they limit me to no more than 2 per year, because I shred anything w/ my name/address on it, due to ID theft here. Obviously they keep a list of such requests, because now I rarely get anything from them. I'm a life member, so now the only thing I get is the monthly magazine.

This goes for any such organization. They only do what is proven to work when it comes to solicitations. Unfortunately it can be annoying, but it is worth it to keep the bill of rights intact.

I hear you on that one: my personal complaint against the NTA as well, at least with a creditor, if you are behind on your bills; when you send them some money they shut up. With the NRA you send them some money, they are like Thank you that was good, but now send us more & more & more.

Now the right is telling you that the obvious and the truth is not the truth, like Trump says don't believe what you see, as he pulls the wool over your eyes.

Weekly if not more frequent Emails describing some new 'critical' situation that if people don't send them $$$, someone's gonna break down their door and take their guns.

That's your opinion. I have a very different one. And yes, we are going to get more aggressive.

If true, so?

You are one of few liberals with the cojones to post in the thread, but what is your response to the actual topic (post #1).

I gave up on the NRA when they turned their backs on NY'ers after the SAFE Act was passed. I'm a member of GOA now. And SCOPE, the NY organization, though I'm no longer living in there. If the NRA spent half as much effort on combatting stupid laws as they do on mailing me things I have no interest in, they might actually manage a lawsuit that would do something to help those in states that are so willing to burden the law abiding.

I don't necessarily believe they're the hand maiden of the gun industry but considering the reported compensation of those like Wayne LaPierre and the $$$ they throw at political campaigns I have little sympathy for their financial plight, seems to me they put themselves into the condition they're in and it should be left up to them to sink or swim. And considering the size of the US population I think they could've done better than selecting someone as their president who's not a convicted felon for no other reason than legal technicalities.
