The thing with Republicans running for offices in CA is that many would hide their political affiliation because the brand is so toxic here that they don't bother. The signs would just say, "Vote for so-and-so."
The right-wing attackers may not be aware that he is a Republican. Or even if the signs do say that, they have missed it. I highly doubt the racists would first check the signs before they attack.

That’s a different incident were a Sikh man was attacked. Suspect in this case is still at large. The other incident is more likely to be robbery/attempted robbery were the targeted man didn’t know English.

Sikh Man Attacked, Told To ‘Go Back To Your Country’ In Stanislaus County

KEYES (CBS13) – A well-known member of the Stanislaus County community was brutally beaten while placing campaign signs, and police are investigating it as a hate crime.
It was Tuesday night in Keyes and 50-year-old Surjit Malhi had just placed his last sign at the corner of Foote and Keyes when he came upon two men waiting for him as returned to his truck. “As soon as I saw them they threw sand in my eyes,” Malhi said.
And that was just the beginning of the attack. The two men proceeded to beat Malhi in the head, shoulders and neck. “And I cleared my eyes and I saw them,” Malhi said.
Blue eyes peeking through black hoodies is what he saw. And as the beating continued his attackers shouted, “Go back to your country!”
The same message, along with hate symbols, were spray painted on his truck. Malhi, the entire time, fearing for his life.
Surjit Malhi attackers were caught, one was the police chief's son, they are saying robbery.

Yikes, I stand corrected. It was Sahbit Singh Natt's attackers who were caught. Surjit Malhi's are still out there. Didn't realize there were two.
