You knew someone was going to be upset about it. But that Georgia Aquarium seems to be a bit shady in its aquariums.

Quote:
But his family outing didn’t sit well with animal rights supporters who object to aquariums, zoos, and parks like SeaWorld that keep animals in captivity.

One fan called Johnson’s visit “cruel,” while another remarked that she was “so disappointed.”

“This is sad,” added a commenter, who was one of many to use the anti-captivity hashtag #EmptyTheCages.

“Yes, they’re magnificent!” another follower commented about the creatures. “They certainly don’t belong in an aquarium! Animals are used for humans’ amusement and profit … they should ALL be free to live their lives as nature intended!”

“They DON’T BELONG IN CAPTIVITY,” a commenter added. “Animals are NOT for our entertainment.”

“Animal cruelty and captivity should not be supported, let alone promoted,” read a comment that fetched more than 1,100 likes. “I thought you were a man of principles whose views would be against such concepts.”

So this article is really based on people commenting on an article describing Johnson's trip.

This is technology gone bad...

Yes, it was so cruel for him to visit the aquarium.

"The actor has yet to address the controversy and shared a new video from the trip Monday morning."

I don't think he considered it a controversy. No matter where he visits somebody will be p***ed off about it.

Cruel would have been if he'd tapped the glass with a hammer spilling the sea creatures onto the floor and watching them writhe painfully as they perished.

What a good tasty dinner they'd make though.

I don't know the percentage, but many of these animals are rescues who couldn't be released back into the wild anyway. We have a place near us that houses raptors. Some, like the Bald Eagle there, have damaged wings. To release them would be to sentence them to a slow death. Other animals take too long to be rehabbed, and become reliant on being fed by humans.

If anyone has numbers or percentages, please post.

Great comment by a Yahoo user named Need Discretion: "Is there a list anywhere of things that don't offend anyone?"

Nobody can do or say anything or go anywhere without someone being offended. This visit was not cruel. If they want cruel how about protesting about the Mama bear and her two cubs who were viciously stalked and slaughtered by a guy and his son in Alaska over the weekend. Many things worse than Johnson taking his little girl to an aquarium.
