Most Americans are naive and gullible. They believe they're the richest, freest, and most moral country. And Russia hacked their precious elections.

In my mind, none. Our military forces shouldn't be over there in the first place. They shouldn't be anywhere besides here in the US. Let the Middle East self-destruct as they've been doing since the dark ages (and before).

Iraq was a pretty modern country until we decided to intervene.

Iran, Syria, Turkey, Iraq, they were all civilized countries with nationalist movements. After the fall of the Ottomans western powers have constantly been meddling in their affairs to gain access to oil.

Now the conflict is turning on them. Look at Faisal, Mossadgh, etc.

Its similar to the collusion with the drug cartels, they allow the cartels to ship their drugs into the country, so US law enforcement has a war to wage.

Point is, the military needs a foe at all times, without this, defense spending decreases.

I hope you all don't think this is the first time we've worked with / funded terrorist groups.

And no, I'm not at all excusing this.

Remember when we paid to train and arm the people who would eventually bring down the WTC towers?

Now that was tax money well spent!

I know. I just wished more people cared about things like this.

The fact that it's Al Qaeda we're working with and not some other terror group makes the irony that much richer.

We've been supporting Al Qaeda since the late 70s.

And? He's ended many things that were going on before him, how about ending some of our asinine involvements around the world of no benefit to the US like Afghanistan, Yemen, inane incursions in Africa, etc.?
