Except GOP operatives are saying the opposite. Republicans who aren’t trying to spin this know the results are not a good sign.

It's pretty basic in terms of how elections work - the votes get counted and the person with the most votes wins (Electoral College notwithstanding of course). Right now, the margin is well under the number of outstanding votes, so no one knows who actually got the most votes.

It could very well be Balderson, I'm not saying it's not. I'm not that no one knows at this point, regardless of who has claimed victory by the GOP. That's a wish at the moment, not a fact.

Still counting provisional and absentee ballots.

Nope. Not at all.

Republican stronghold where Trump won by 11 points with Trump holding rallies and RNC pouring in a boatload of money.

1500 vote difference with 3500 votes left to count.

Yup. They’re worried about losing the suburbs. That’s where the majority will be made.

The numbers are actually in flux.

That 3500 number are provisional ballots - not all of those will be deemed eligible so we don't really know how many more of those will get counted right now.

And there were also 5000-odd outstanding mailed out ballots. Most of those won't come back, but even a few hundred votes could make a difference in something this close.

75% Democrat turnout.
40% Republican turnout.

It could be close.

It already is close.

And regardless how this settles out, another vote in 3 months.

If the same trend happens in House races across the country like what happened in the Ohio 12 special election, Democrats will pick up a minimum of about 40 seats giving them control of the House. Another 60 or so races would be within 2 points of Democrats flipping.

Why is there even a thread on “too close to call” the op could have checked around before starting this up. Even if O’Conner loses the margin was too close in what was a heavy Trump district, that should have been the title not some fake news nonsense.

From what I can tell, Democrats are up about 10 points up in recent races.

Whether this holds remains to be seen.
