Stupid, trying to save the trees so now they all burn down, how did that work?
So are you saying that the entire northern hemisphere is suddenly mismanaging their forests?

Our planet will survive. We won't.

Gee, a policy advisor for a climate change denier(CFACT) says it's not climate change.

I'm SHOCKED!

SHOCKED I say!

The black hills are what happens when you don't let forests burn. Constant dead trucks laying on the forest floor to the point where many of the trails are actually unattractive looking because of the sheer amount of dead matter on the forest floor. Forests are supposed to burn.

Though I've never done it, the people who purposely start these fires are doing the forest a favor.

That is crazy talk when you think about the lives lost in these fires, not to mention the homes lost.

He cited a time when we allowed forests to overgrow, and that created a perfect environment for future, even worse fires to happen.

What has complicated this situation is that we want to build our homes and cities right in the middle of areas that are going to catch fire due to oxygen, plant life, and events like lightning and human causes. Then we wonder why this happened.
These fires would have occurred with or without homes being built, this is the largest fire on record in CA and is becoming a regular occurrence. These fires have existed for years but I don’t recall anything like this decades ago. You can’t manage millions of acres of forest to prevent this, that is just a diversion from addressing global warming.

Meanwhile this administration is rolling back mileage standards in CA avoiding the obvious problem. Increases in CO2 from fossil fuels is causing warming and radical weather events whether it’s droughts, higher temperatures or increased rainfall. PA also was just hit by heavy flooding.

Weather is not the fault of Obama, nor the Democrats, nor Leo DiCaprio, nor Al Gore. It is the fault of the Sun, Earth, and other factors.

It really was that hot in Helena on Friday.

Temperatures in the capital city hit triple digits Friday afternoon, along with a haze of smoke from wildfires and an uptick in fire danger through Saturday.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., the National Weather Service recorded a 100-degree temperature at the Helena Regional Airport – about 2 degrees less than the Aug. 10 high of 102 set in 2003. Helena wasn’t alone with triple digit temperatures in Montana, as Great Falls and Havre reached 105 and Missoula hit 104 degrees. The rest of the state reached the upper 90s.

The brutal heat put much of the region under a red flag warning from noon Friday through midnight Saturday, indicating a high potential for wildfire. The tri-county area falls within the warning, including the Rocky Mountain Front, and the Lincoln, Helena and Townsend Ranger districts of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest.
As of yesterday the forecast for today was 100-105 for Helena.

Increased levels of CO2 cause increased warming, that very simple fact escapes some people. It would be nice if the GOP members on the science committee understood science.

Truth is simple. Some don't want the truth. That is why man turns to science and complicates things.

I don't live in California. I do know that it has been reported that an arsonist started the fire. The policies of California laws could have contributed to the intensity and longevity of the fire. Most likely it did.

That said, an arsonist started the fire. It is terrible and people are losing their homes, livelihoods, lives, pets, etc. Whether one's actions brought their tragedy upon themselves or not (in most any situation) I feel badly for those who are there dealing with it. It is a tragedy. I hope that it is remedied soon.
