Enough of the threads asking about if white people are racist or not, or asking if there is still racism in this country. Let's just concede that white people are uniquely and unforgivably racist. Let's concede that the white race has only succeeded on the backs of other races and other races that have floundered have only done so because of the white man's boot on their necks. Let's concede all of this and move this "discussion" to the next level.

With all of that conceded, what next? What do we do now? We've passed the Civil Rights Act, we've made it illegal to discriminate on the basis of race. We've done what we can from a legal standpoint to provide as level of a playing field as law can allow. We've even gone beyond the level playing field in some ways and enacted affirmative action programs designed to give some oppressed raises a much needed advantage. Yet here we are and some races still can't get ahead because white people are still holding them down despite the law. What do we do now to raise them up? And to what extent do we have an obligation to raise them up and to what extent do these races have an obligation to raise themselves up on their own?

And please, let's have some specifics instead of just platitudes and bumper stickers.

Most people are racist. Conservatives and liberals alike. And most racists will never admit it, even to themselves.

But we should keep trying to become better listeners and we must be honest with ourselves and others.

Default Why is it only racist when itís involves a Democrat?

The left claim racism if you say anything about the Obama’s, Maxine Waters, NFL players, etc....when it has nothing do to with their race.....but black conservatives like Ben Carson are blasted by the left, Candace Owens is harrased by Antifa and nobody claims it’s racist? It just seems a bit hypocritical. When I point this out to people that call others racist for saying they didn’t like Maxine Waters comments but then post hateful things in regards to black conservatives and ask them to justify the double standard, they never respond.

The left would be without any standards if they didn't have double standards.

Seriously?

Black people have made amazing strides despite the white mans attempts at keeping them down. It is crazy to think but a mere 160 years ago black people were slaves.

Today Black people dominate most sports, the music industry, fashion and they have stepped into so many aspects of "whiteys world" that we can hardly call it that anymore.

Who can ever forget that a black man was President of the USA for 8 years and still serves as inspiration for many people of all colours around the world yet we still have many young black men that can't help themselves and it has nothing to do with their white overseers.

How many black guys shot other black guys last week? How many made the personal choice to commit crimes and get themselves thrown into prison?

The general society is still a white based society and people need to fit into the norm so I would say that other races have the obligation to lift themselves up if they want to make it.

Despite what the media tells us and despite the stakes that the Democrats try to drive between the races in their identity, victim based politics I believe that most white people don't care how much pigment someones skin has or not but what they do care about is the content of that persons character.

You would probably need to come up with more specific examples rather than generalizations. Ben Carson has always been caricatured for his sleepy demeaner but most criticism is toward the fact that he isn't qualified to be in his position and of course his decorating tastes.

Candace Owens? Antifa is going to attack on the right. Nothing racist about them regarding their counterproductive activities. Other than that I think Candace Owens, particularly due to her youth is seen as an "opportunist" as a conservative. The further to the right a black person goes the more they are endeared to the conservative base and the greater exposure they get. If Candace Owens were a liberal she'd be just another pretty face with a high school education.

The left started savaging Dr. Carson as soon as he criticized Obama on national television some years ago. It intensified once he declared for the presidency in 2015.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are asking if we ALL embrace the Democrat left's deeply racist identity politics agenda with both arms and squeeze it lovingly and celebrate it enthusiastically, then for our society, where does this go? What comes next?

Is that basically right?

We have been talking about "The Negro Question" for over 100 years. I think we should stop talking about it. We have talked about it for so long that now we think talking about it is doing something about it. I read a newspaper article from Valley Falls Kansas dated about 1909. The title read "Negro Question Solved." The school board met and decided to not tax the citizens to build a separate school for black children. They would be enrolled in the "white" school over the objections of townsfolk who wanted their taxes raised to keep black children out of the "white" school. We got here by listening to all the wrong people talk.

There is an old African proverb that says, "Talking got me here."

I've asked the same question. People post that all the racists are *righties* or *Trumpies* or whatever idiotic name they're using this month.

I'm starting to think most of the racists are actually on the left.
