Royal Caribbean bans emotional support animals from cruises: reports - Orlando Sentinel

Quote:
Royal Caribbean Cruises has taken the wind out of the sails of emotional-support animal owners, according to a Tuesday post on the unaffiliated Royal Caribbean Blog and a report by CBS Miami.

The cruise company reportedly updated its animal policy, banning emotional-support animals, otherwise known as a therapy pets and comfort pets, from its ships, effective immediately.

Thank heavens. I've been following this in a cruise group I belong to, and a couple of weeks ago someone brought a Savannah cat on board as an ESA. . Bad enough, but the cat did not go everywhere with its owner so hardly an ESA if it was left behind in the cabin all day.

Good. I wish apartment complexes in California were allowed to do that.

I agree with this on cruises. It's a vacation, not point-to point travel which I think they should be allowed/

Emotional support? Can I smoke my ES weed on the boat and planes? Can I bring my ES AR-15 with me?

I believe their ships are flagged as Panamanian, Liberian, Bahamian etc... and don't have to follow Americans with Disabilities Act laws.

Royal Caribbean is our favorite cruise line and cruises are not really set up for animals. You're getting off and on the ship for excursions, it's not like with kids where they have programs to keep them entertained and doing fun things. The pets can't mix, the cruise line is liable for their actions and also responsible for their safety. It's a no win for the cruise line.

It may be true on all the cruise lines now but even many years ago, Royal Caribbean was adamant that the first thing passengers had to do was go to their muster stations and they did play around; the drill was absolutely required and they checked off each passenger.

It's a shame that everything seems to be getting less and less dog friendly. I don't get why everyone is so anti-dog. Yeah, you have some untrained dogs, but the vast majority are just fine. People need to chill.

Not to mention, many of these support diplomas are bogus.

So true. Ex-wives are people, too.
