Hope Gina Haspel, Dan Coats, Paul Nakasone and a host of other current intel leaders don't have big plans for private sector work that requires stringent security clearances (like military contracts and such) after they leave the Trump administration since the standard has now been set.
Thanks boss...
I doubt they are worried - my family isn't worried and we live under the same "standard" that Brennan and all others who hold/held Security Clearances operate under.
That "standard" was put in place in E.O 10504 in 1953.
I find it amazing that so many know so little and yet bloviate about it in a vacuum.
Trump revokes former CIA Brennan's security clearance to protect National Security. Brennan failed to act as a professional.
Good move by Trump. Controlling access is an important function of the President.
Brennan has lied and acted unprofessionally after leaving gov. service.
This in no way effects Brennan the citizen's right to say whatever he wants. He has his first amendment fully intact. There is no 1st amendment to blab classified information.
Others are being reviewed and others may be announced in the future.
Why does anyone think that Dan Coates should be consulted? Brennan has nothing to do with Dan Coates and Dan Coates has nothing to do with issuing or revoking a Security access or eligibility.
In the particular case of Brennen -- he actually had both access and eligibility. It is normal practice for the former CIA Director and Director of National Security to retain access (buildings & briefings, meetings) and eligibility for a continued renewal OR reinstatement.
Many on the "list" that are still under review have probably lost "access" but retain eligibility.
The loss of eligibility is the biggest problem for Brennan and the others.
Sounds like (based on the reasons given at the Press Briefing) is that it is:
REVOKED FOR CAUSE
ANY application for a clearance so marked would go into the trash.
This should have been done by Dan Coates recommendation, not on Trumps whim. It doesn’t silence Brennan and it doesn’t hurt him, just blocks him from offering suggestions to the intelligence agencies. It seems like a childish response by Trump.
When that happens wake me up. I wouldn't want to sleep through it.
I wonder when the will stop and the left will finally except the results of the election.
Probably when the right wakes up and sees Trump as the lying sack of garbage he is.
