Why didn't Republicans bring it up earlier? Clearly they knew about it when they went out searching for 65 women who signed a letter saying Kavanaugh is a good guy...that didn't happen in 12 hours. I thought there was supposed to be transparency in the process, I didn't know that Republicans could suppress any derogatory information from the Democrats which is clearly what they did.
Very good point.
If the GOP felt the need to go find 60+ women from his childhood to vouch for his decency, surely they knew there might be some skeletons in his closet that would say otherwise.
Also, the story of one woman (Ford) is more powerful than a letter signed by 65 women. Why? Because those 65 women weren't there the day Ford accuses Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
How often does a politician go down for doing something awful, and everyone around him is shocked and makes comments like "I never saw this coming" and "he seemed like such a nice person."
Just because 65 women from his childhood say Kavanaugh is a good person, it has no impact -- absolutely zero -- on the accusations by Ford.
I think this woman should be brought before the committee and questioned with as much intensity as the Democrats questioned Judge Kavanaugh. No stone should be left unturned.
Do you really think the GOP committee members would have it any other way?
Catherine Ford is very aware that she will be dragged through the mud by republican committee members and they will do EVERYTHING THEY POSSIBLY CAN to destroy her credibility.
Switching gears, I can only imagine the protests that will be going on outside whenever Kavanaugh & Ford are called to testify.
These are exactly the questions to ask in a hearing.
She deservers to be heard and she doesn't deserve to be insulted.
Had the Republicans not blocked all Kavanaugh's Bush-era documents, it might never have come to this.
Senators might have decided that a person who weighed in on torture, then lied about, a person who lied repeated about making use of documents stolen from Democrats (this seems to be a Republican theme), ... did not merit a seat on the SCOTUS and there would have been no reason to bring this up, particularly when the woman wished to remain anonymous.
But that train has left the station and here we are.
Finding those 65 women is going to come back to bite them.
They got those names after the letter came out.....
"Sixty-five women who knew Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in high school have testified to his good character in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee, in light of recently surfaced allegations that he tried to force himself on a girl during his time at Georgetown Preparatory School, an all-boys school in Bethesda, Maryland."
I think this woman should be brought before the committee and questioned with as much intensity as the Democrats questioned Judge Kavanaugh. No stone should be left unturned. They should demand to see her social media posts (which I understand has been conveniently scrubbed ...shades of Hillary Clinton). Let's see her mobile divices. We have a right to know everything about her, since she made the allegations. Let's see if this has truly affected her life, as she claims. I want to know every aspect of her lifestyle, her career, and everything she has done for the last 35 years.
In this country, one is NOT guilty till proven innocent, as the Demonrats believe. And Judge Kavanaugh is to judge according to THE LAW, not according to anyone's standards of morality.
Finally, what was this girl doing at this party, if she is so morally superior?
How do some of you guys come up with these thoughts? They are not even rational.
The signatures of 65 childhood friends have no bearing on Ford's accusations whatsoever.
I'll give it to them, nice tactic by Kavanaugh's team, but it doesn't matter.
