I'm reading online that the call for the FBI is to indeed reopen the background check.....keeping this new information in mind when they do so. Apparently it is not unreasonable for the FBI to go back that far back to do a background check...
I really don't know about all that --but it is what folks are saying or have said.
AND I'm reading the FBI can and would do more investigating if the WH asked -- but the WH is not asking.
We are being told the WH is not asking because the FBI doesn't want to -- but that's just spinning it a wee bit.
REALITY-- This administration doesn't want to really find out the truth -- they just want to get this guy appointed -- Trump because it means a notch in his belt -- and for the Republicans it means they get a more conservative SCOTUS-- or so they think.
Where are you reading this, and who is calling for the FBI to re-open the background check? I can only guess...

Do you propose separate elevators for women and men and then blame with woman for walking into the elevator with the man and give the man a pass if he rapes her in the elevator? Do you propose that a woman never enter an Uber or Cab if a man is driving?
Absolute BS, the President can order the FBI to investigate it just like Bush ordered them to investigate the Anita Hill matter.

Is there precedent? Yes there is. In 1991, Bush ordered the FBI to investigate the sexual assault claims of Anita Hill against then SCOTUS nominee Thomas.

The last time this happened when a SCOTUS nominee was accused of sexual assault in 1991, the then president George Bush DID order the FBI to conduct a formal investigation.

To all the above, you can't compare this to Hill. Thomas was accused of sexually harassing Hill while both worked at federal agencies, in potential violation of federal law; Ford has accused Kavanaugh of sexual harassment that would fall well outside of any applicable federal or state statue of limitations because the alleged episode occurred decades ago.

No; but a wild goose chase will suffice to delay the vote! That's the only agenda here.
I want the vote delayed until we are able to see the one hundred thousand pages of documents that the GOP is refusing to release regarding Kavanaugh during the Bush Administration. What are they hiding that they are so afraid we'll find out about? Whatever it is, they must be pretty worried it would disqualify him if it was to get out.
That is reason enough to want this lifetime appointment put on hold.
