A huge part of the problem is that they don’t think it is for selfish reasons. Matter of fact, I’d bet my right ear that they think they are being noble and sacrificing themselves for the protection of (choose their pet cause) and one day the angels of righteousness will sing their praises. They probably genuinely see themselves as heroes. It took six days and the help of a lawyer for this one to don her cape.
I am more concerned about the future damage this will do to our nation than about Kavanaugh and these women. So far this type of person trashing has only been done to Republican nominees - Bork, Thomas, and Kavanaugh. Wonder how Democrats are going to like things like “she had an abortion” or the such.

Kavanaugh is not being fired from his job. However, he may not get the promotion to a better one. We'll have to wait and see.
She did provide the name of a witness. He's refuses to testify under oath.
As to unsubstantiated claims, all we have is Kavanaugh's unsubstantiated claims that he didn't do this.
However, Kavanaugh has lied under oath about several other matters, so I find myself less inclined to believe him this time around.
