As the article notes, and as I certainly recall, President Obama had frozen Federal wages due to the recession.
Now, we have been told by Mr. Trump that the economy is doing fantastic. Yet, in his letter to Congress justifying his cancellation of the Federal raise in pay (2.1 percent), he cites the nation's 'fiscal situation'.
What? I thought the Tax Reform Act would fix everything. Lower the national debt, increase tax revenues, etc.
I believe that the military will still get their raises. However, Border Patrol and ICE agents will not.
Hundreds of billions in tax breaks for the rich is A-okay, but for people who actually do all the work, a modest cost-of-living adjustment is not appropriate. MAGA nation will justify it because it is all deep state federal workers, but Trump and his cronies will be coming after MAGA nation next. That's paycheck won't go as far in an inflationary environment, will it?

$179K/year for someone to say nice things about him was A-OK too!
$12B to support farmers hurt by his own ill-conceived trade war is also A-OK!
And damn, can't be giving workers a pittance when there's golf to be flown to every weekend.
There's someone floating around here asking what Trump has done that has hurt "you" personally. Even though I've provided proof, here's another example. He's encouraging inflation and cancelling my husband's modest pay increase.
The morale in his office and department is already the lowest he's ever seen. I honestly don't know why he stays on. This may push him over the edge. He'd make a lot more money in the private sector.
I prefer the fed gov to do all they can do attract and retain top talent, as they have the potential to impact my life and unlike a business, there is no competitor to go to if I do not like their services.
Good. Starve the beast. Maybe some of them will quit. Seems there area large number of jobs in the private sector available now.
