Trump doesn't own the plane it belongs to the people of the United States. I'm not sure why anyone should be grateful to Trump overall he's handled the situation like the prick he is. Someone likely talked some sense into him he doesn't do anything out of the kindness of his Grinch heart. It's all about what he get's out of it. He probably figured he could play the victim by doing so.

Gee I remember when Conservatives were aghast that Obama took AF1 to Hawaii citing that it wasn't his plane or his money to spend yet now how conveniently they forget.

OP; Maybe the media is being respectful?
In guessing that the following people could have sent a National plane (US AirForce) to be available for the McCains and entourage with or without the President's concurrence.
Speaker of the House, Senate Majority Leader, Commandant of the US Navy, Secretary of the US Navy, US Armed Forces' Chief of Staff, Commander of the Military District of DC, Chief of Staff to the President, Secretary of Defense, and maybe others. It was wise that DJT didn't make a big deal of this. IMO, I doubt that DJT even given any thought of making a National plane available to the McCains-its not his style nor should it be very high on his list of things to do. He has staff to perform these functions. DJT already is viewed as vindictive in sending Pence announce that Pence is his personal representative to the funeral.

Obama was vacationing, all the time.

I would hardly call a funeral a vacation.

As for the main stream media, here let me google that for you:https://www.google.com/search?q=air+...active&ssui=on

Everyone from ABC to TMZ had a story that mentions it. Not sure what you mean by not hearing it. Did you expect it to be higher up than actual stories about the Senator's funeral?

They had expected it to be the biggest news story of the day and of the week.
