Above the US in almost every ranking? Be it life expectancy, quality of life.... right.

Get off these USA forums and boycott everything American that you own/use and let's see how long you make it. I'll throw out the expired maple syrup in my pantry while you're at it.
I wouldn't know because I am not Canadian and do not live in Canada either. If simple facts hurt you so much maybe you should be the one to get off the forums.

The very fact that you aggressively attack me for my own opinion shows the small value of having my own opinion in your eyes. Mr. Trump does the same - he bullies people all the time for having a different opinion. He also regulary threatens companies if they make decisions he does not like, see Harley Davidson, see Nike. This definitely goes against basic freedoms.
Specialists may be “overpaid” but your typical family doctor is underpaid if anything after the education, malpractice insurance, and many other costs are factored in.
Agree.

that is the reason liberals keep pushing for the fascist minimum wage...raising it raises the the money taken form the lower peons as they are now in a higher bracket...its is all ascam
I get the feeling you don't know much about how tax brackets work.

They have a show called Healthcare Connect on Sirious Satellite radio where they answer healthcare questions. The guy works for a healthcare system out of New York and is very liberal. Even HE says Americans would not want socialized medicine. First of all, in those places, you are in wards, not in private rooms. You wait forever for elective procedures and often get denied for testing. But the most interesting point he made, and one I never thought of was, we do most of the R&D for new drugs and procedures in this country. There has to be an incentive to do that and we are essentially subsidizing OTHER countries by developing these because eventually the other countries use the drugs and new procedures.

Blanketing all UHC systems gives a false impression. Private rooms ARE available in Canada, as are 2 bed and 4 bed wards. I've never seen anything larger than a 4 bed ward. Similar to what is available in the US. In some places there may be a small surcharge for a private room, many who have extended health insurance, usually through work, are covered for this.
In Canada deciding what tests are needed is a decision by the doctor ONLY. There is no government involvement in medical decisions. In all the years I've been dealing with our UCH, I have NEVER heard of anyone being denied a test.
The US does have a lot of R&D etc, but Europe does as well, and even Canada. Canada obviously not on the same scale, but important R&D does happen here. An example of one of the latest, and I'm sure we aren't going to begrudge others this discovery when it does pass testing on humans in the years to come. Of course there is more than just this one story going on.
I'd argue that doctors are paid fairly for the amount of work they do and for the risk they take. Primary care physicians earn on average $190K/yr. It isn't really a lot of money when you consider the costs of malpractice insurance, licensing fees, business expenses, and the amount of money they had to pay for schooling.
For comparison, a primary care physician in France earns around $95K/yr.
There's no single reason why healthcare costs are so high in the US. It's a mix of shady insurance companies, shady medical supply companies, the cost of attending college and medical school, and hospitals overcharging for things knowing that the insurance company will work out a deal or knowing that low income people won't pay so they can use it as a higher tax write off.
People call on their profits to be reduced/eliminated all the time. Nobody calls on the docs, who make out like bandits, to make a little less.
People may call on Pharma but they aren’t changing their tune. More doctors than ever work for a salary for many reasons such as high overhead for a private practice, high cost of liability insurance and now Medicare is lowering what they actually are paid per visit!

Medicare is considering raising rates for lower level visits, lowering rates for higher level visits. So participating docs will all be affected differently if they do this.
