"Snopes, the oldest reputable fact checking source on the Internet."

You DO live in an alternate universe!

"Snopes simply relied on reports published by others to pass judgement. The founders of Snopes would scour the internet for “evidence” from other online publications and if they could find sufficient support for a particular urban legend they would rate the legend as “true”. Snopes did not do any independent investigative journalism or scientific testing. Of course, the stakes were pretty low when you’re talking about Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster. Struggling to generate income from their traffic Snopes made a huge pivot in 2014 and the stakes got a LOT bigger. The husband-wife founders of Snopes had stopped contributing the website and eventually divorced in 2014. Afterward David Mikkelson bought out his wife and hired a full-time team of employees to pivot from debunking urban legends to “fact checking” politicians using the same methods he and his wife had used previously. The new editors of Snopes did not engage in any sort of investigative journalism, but instead relied exclusively on the work of other reporters, journalists, and opinion writers to determine if a politician was being truthful or accurate."

Well New York City, and environs also added a lot. So you basically have two FAR LEFT regions of the U.S. in which the LEFT thinks should control the entire nation. The popular vote is meaningless in Presidential elections. It was to avoid mob rule, and exactly the situation that would have happened with Hillary. NYC, and L.A. DICTATING to the entire nation.

Instead you have Idaho and Wyoming controlling the election and have voter suppression of minority parties in heavily weighted states.

The EC is useless today.

Why is popular vote mob rule? Bush got over half the votes in 04'

Idaho, and Wyoming aren't controlling anything. A few high density areas should not be able to dictate to the entire country. We are a collection of STATES. We are not supposed to have a centralized collective that dictates. Remember?

Have no clue because I don't follow Breitbart.

If it was possible for Eisenhower and Trump to switch time slots in history, both of them would be lynched. It is an incredibly sad thing watching the demise of what used to be a highly respected party at the hands of a clown.

re: #7

Snopes said "Although alarmed readers asked if the video is authentic, we found no indication it is not"

where, exactly, was the 'egregious lie'?

Compared to NBC/MSNBC/Comcast, ABC/Disney/ESPN, CBS, PBS, CNN, NYT, Washpo etc, Breitbart, and even Fox News are very, very small outlets. 95% or more of the Media is Far Left biased, and lie to advance the Progressive/Democrat agenda.

If Soros had ever uttered anything vaguely similar to that headline, it would have been around the world in two-inch type overnight. I've got fifty bucks that says if that story appears in any other publication anywhere, they are parasitic sites whose content targets BB's audience and feeds anyone who would believe such drivel using BB as their (usually anonymous) source. That story originated in the mind of an editor who needed a red meat piece for feeding time at the zoo.

There is a very real reason MSM doesn't carry the same stories as the tabloids. It has nothing to do with creativity and everything to do with verifiable, publicly searchable facts. If it is a legitimate news story, you will find a lot of different outlets carrying it, and you will be able to check it out easily. The best way to do it is to find the source documents for a story - clips from wire services, eyewitness accounts, transcriptions of speeches or testimony - something that is difficult to refute unless you are talking from a first person perspective. My journalism professors stressed the importance of as many corroborating sources as possibly for a fact piece. Opinion and commentary are entirely different realms of endeavor.

It is telling that people who quote BB and IW to support their opinions usually will not tell you what sites they use as fact checkers. If you don't check your facts, you are the kind of people P.T. Barnum was fond of - suckers.
Well said. When I try to track down some of the claims made around here, I notice that lies told in the alt right yellow press will get picked up and reported by other sensationalist news sites. Those who get their information solely from Faux, Breitbart and the rest are living in a fool's paradise and will never voluntarily rip the shades off from their eyes.
