Stopped an economy that was in free fall. Maybe you didn't notice that the economy stopped falling after he took office. Perhaps the laws of Kinetic energy can be applied.

Other than the stock market -- none of the other economic indicators 'popped' with Trump

It depends on the type of business, where that person is in the business cycle, their specific skills.
Much credit is given to Trump for his business success. Some of it has bee in real estate development but most of his success is branding. He has had terrible failures with casinos, private schools, etc......He hasn't been successful everywhere.
Let's take his most successful venture -- his brand. If we look at some of the most successful branding business people we can see clearly that being a great phenomenal business person in that area doesn't equate to being able to have the skills necessary for making decisions for the country.
Kris Jenner had turned the Kardashians into a multi-million dollar success story with branding. All branding.
I don't want her make decision at the federal, state or municipal level.
She's phenomenal at her business.
Trump's business is branding his name for luxury resort -- hotel/golf. That's his biggest success. That doesn't mean he can figure out how to stimulate the economy in small town USA.
And yes the economy is doing well NOW but the areas where there were no jobs or there were issues -- there still are. Coal is still coal. Steel has seen minor improvements at the expense of losing businesses in other areas (minor improvement in some steel industries because of tariffs but we all pay that price).
Trump doesn't have the finesse required to understand the complexities of helping out one industry without taking down another. Trump won't look at the net effect of his policies. He'll see that one steel plant hiring 300 people -- while 3 other businesses close that employed 500 people.
That's a problem.
