While I certainly understand that free speech applies to government suppression of it, I find bans on these public platforms a little troubling for a different reason. I wouldn't call them "partnerships" but almost every major agency relies on FB and/or Twitter as means for emergency communications on critical and sometimes life saving info.
I think there needs to be a middle ground somewhere. Ban people who are abusive from tweeting or posting but allow them read access so they can be informed on critical information. Its almost as if Twitter and FB have unofficially replaced things like the emergency broadcast system and the news. Its definitely more efficient, faster, and further reaching.
At least with Twitter, you don't have to have an account for reading things.

Not 100% sure, but I think you do. Especially if you want to follow certain accounts like FEMA, FBI, or local First Responders so you can be alerted to critical activities.
I'm not saying they can't be created. Being created is one thing, able to use it is another...unless the right also creates their own internet, or just uses Tor(lol).
Yet.
Crazy line of reasoning. They can create their own platform, but won't be able to use it???????? They have platforms. They are using those platforms. They want to use other platforms, but don't want to follow the rules those other platforms have established. That's their problem.
I'm going to make a wild guess that whatever was in that forum was truly vile.
It just so happens that the language Trump supporters use tends to be more vicious and violent than posts from anti-trumpets. I can see here, too - Trump supporters tend to post opinions with more insults; Trump opposers tend to post more with facts.
Translation: It's Trump's fault that free speech has ben shut down.
Yet another example of tech companies showing their liberal bias and shutting down non liberals .
These tech companies pride themselves on the exchange of information but it looks like if the information isn’t of the liberal variety they want it banned and censored .

Reddit has banned the second-largest pro-President Trump subreddit, The Great Awakening, as tech platforms increasingly ban Trump-supporting and conservative forums.
Top Reddit moderators made Big League Politics aware of the fact that “The Great Awakening” was banned Tuesday night at 11:45 PM. The subreddit has been down all day.
Top Reddit moderators have provided Big League Politics with information showing that left-wing operatives including an employee of CBS have been involved in posing as Trump supporters to post offensive anonymous content on Reddit in order to get pro-Trump subreddits flagged. BLP will be rolling out that information today as this censorship purge goes into high gear.
The CBS employee has been identified by top Reddit moderators as Gary Phillips, who serves as digital media administrator for CBS Studios International in Los Angeles.
Phillips runs a private subreddit in which he makes clear his liberal ideology, and plans his covert actions against Trump subreddits according to copious information reviewed by the editorial staff.

Free speech hasn't been shut down. Cut out the drama.
Or, on second thought, keep it up. It's useful when people self-identify as know-nothings who emote rather than think.
