They were approved and purchased during Obama’s administration but because they were installed during Trump’s administration some are blaming Trump and Nikki Haley for the wasteful spending.
The Fake News NY Times was forced to retract their smear on Nikki Haley.
The excess drapes & apartment were approved by Obama no doubt because they thought Hillary Clinton's ambassador would be using the place.
The source NY Times article does not blame Trump, it says "A spokesman for Ms. Haley said plans to buy the curtains were made in 2016, during the Obama administration. Ms. Haley had no say in the purchase, he said." https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/13/u...-curtains.html
Yes, they buried that fact deep in the article.
Like typical NY Times reporting, they use the headlines and opening lines to make you think Trump or his appointee, is responsible.
Curtains not really ordered?
Curtains not really $53K
Curtains did really have mechanical hardware?
Curtains not really authorized by Obama admin?
What's not factual in the story?
The story was presented as an issue with Trump appointee Haley. If you didn't read the entire story you would never know that Trump and Haley had nothing to do with it.
NYTimes does that all the time. They bury the "non Trump Hate" facts so most people get only the "Trump Hate" headlines.
They are quite clever. Fake and misleading news. Again.

Clickbait headline, agreed earlier in this thread. The story was very factual.
And look at that, the NYT realized their mistake, printed a retraction, and changed the headline. Bravo.
But look at all the ones who parroted it AS FACT, who turned around and deleted their tweets.
And one Congressman, a Democrat from California, called for congressional hearings on Nikki Haley. LAWL
Trump Derangement on full display. You guys should take lesson.
