Glaude asked McDaniel how he would speak to Mississippi's 38 percent of African-Americans and how he would convince them "you are not a danger to them."
McDaniel responded: "I am going to ask them, after 100 years, after 100 years of relying on big government to save you, where are you today? After 100 years of begging for federal government scraps, where are you today?"
Is it going to get more Blacks to vote for him? I don't think so. If all he can do is say "the Democrats are no good for you" or "you beg the federal government" and he's just cold about it, then it is not going to it. It will especially not work in a state like Mississippi which is known for its violent racist history. It took the federal government stepping in to dismantle Jim Crow (and in the rest of the South in general). McDaniel has not the Black population that he is on their side. He has not convinced Black Americans that they can trust Republicans. Issues like discrimination, police brutality, these are things alot of Black Americans are worried about and bringing up food stamps isn't going to change that.
Maybe we can get the Dems to stop dangling the scraps in front of those folks and asking for their vote in return? It is a pretty good deal. The Dems will give welfare, free health care, free tuition, free pot etc etc and all they ask in return is a vote their way.
What do the Reps offer? a chance for someone to stand on his or her own 2 feet?
You may honestly believe that, the flaw is that The Left had never controlled Mississippi and Republicans control congress and the Presidency .
When did government attempt to save black people ?????
You mean since the government saved black people from slavery? Never, although democrats have been promising to save black folks for decades but have done nothing but hurt the black community they falsely claim to love.
Many people wonder why more Blacks do not vote Republican despite many Blacks having conservative values. This is why. Making comments assuming that all Blacks are looking for is "free stuff". Most Blacks who vote Democrat WORK for a living. Many people who are on welfare are the working poor. Yes, we have those who only want to live off the welfare system. We also have those who work but don't make enough not to need welfare. And the majority of Blacks aren't looking for welfare. Anyone who assumes that the only thing Blacks are looking for is "free stuff", well, those persons are bigots themselves.
I can understand that. There are better ways to make a point.
Why not appeal to their better selves? ... assume that they want to be off of government assistance and discuss ways the candidate can help...
Is it going to get more Blacks to vote for him? I don't think so.
I never said it would win him more votes, I did say the truth hurt and a lot of people like yourself will fight the truth instead of accepting it.

You're the only person talking about food stamps.
