AUSTIN — History curriculum in Texas remembers the Alamo, but could soon forget Hillary Clinton and Helen Keller.
As part of an effort to "streamline" the social studies curriculum in Texas, the State Board of Education voted on Friday to change what students in every grade are required to learn in the classroom. They approved the removal of several historical figures, including Hillary Clinton and Helen Keller.

Payback for trying to jack with the History of the Alamo!

Do you feel better? Just so you know, I'm personally fine with dropping Clinton and Keller from the history curriculum, even as a liberal. Hillary Clinton qualifies as current events and as for Keller, while I think her story is fascinating, I do not think her inclusion is essential for a middle school or high school survey course.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. The Alamo, Hillary, and Helen Keller should all be part of the curriculum.

Luckily kids today have the Internet, because I have a feeling the public school curriculum is vastly deficient.

Keller is part of third grade curricula. I suggest you read the article, as someone who supports education their voices make no sense unless you want to promote religion over history. Billy Graham stays but Keller goes? Nope.

And are you aware that Texas always ranks poorly in terms of education? Perhaps you think that's funny, too - millions of under-educated kids?

Here's one measure, with Texas in the bottom third:

That exactly what conservatives should do. Liberals want to erase American figures and history they don't like, we should just erase liberals.

And they have, or at least should have, school libraries with real books which have been carefully selected, plus librarians who know their collections and can match books with kids. The Internet is all too random and can't compare with the right book at the right time for the right kid.

Kids in Kentucky are no longer taught anything about Martha Washington, who was considerably more than just George's wife. Sad.
