Not whitewashing anything. I don’t need to. The Roma have been in Europe since time immemorial. It’s THEIR home, not yours. You’re just a visitor.
I know all about the Roma and their shenanigans, but of Europeans can live with it and accept it as s part of life, who the hell am I to complain about it? All societies will have people that live on the margins. Big deal.

The OP's point was that concern about crime in Europe was BS. Gypsies are crime for the most part.
And yes, you were indeed trying to downplay gypsy crime as a some sort of simplistic local cultural "flavor" simply to be experienced.
Americans should be aware of this if planning to travel in those areas.

Well then, you would lose. The "you won't recognize London" comment came from my buddies ex-girlfriend Alison who lives in Manchester when I mentioned going back after 25 years. The "roving band of Muslims" comment came from my ex father in law who lives north of London. I can provide phone numbers for both. Pay up.
I find it hypocritical that someone would go to Europe, visit, come back and try and convince us that Europe is wonderful, that none of the stories reported about their crime rate are true, yet their complaints about our President are based on the reports attacking Trump they have heard from their socialist media which they take at their word.
Europe is generally wonderful.
It’s mildly comical that you think the rest of the world is also in on the big “socialist scheme” to “attack” Trump.
Maybe, just maybe, his actions merit the coverage he’s getting.
This was the warning I received when I announced my upcoming trip to friends and clients. "There are roving bands of Muslims", said one. "You won't even recognize London", said another. Then there are the news reports of the swarms of refugee rapists. Well, I just returned from my trip to Rome, San Marino, Venice, Monaco, Paris and London and I'm happy to report that all of the warnings are absolute BULLPUCKY. I walked ALL OVER these cities during my visit and I didn't see a single example of the supposed horrors that I was warned about, and I LOOKED for them. So, ignore the fear mongers and go ahead and book that vacation. You'll have a wonderful time. Just watch out for those obnoxious American tourists.

Yeah, it seems to me that Conservatives in general - and FAR-Right folks in particular tend to be afraid of almost EVERYTHING (the gob'ment is coming to get them, Lib'rals are coming to get their guns, Muslims are gonna blow them up, Illegals are coming to take their jobs and rape and murder their women, etc. etc. etc.). They are cowards to the core.
Immigration is the only crime on the books that comes from time alone. An immigrant can be a perfect citizen while he's here, but if he over-stays his visa, he commits a crime.
So he becomes a criminal, even though the only law he broke was time.
I know one of those criminals. He was 80 when he learned he was; he thought he was born here all his life until he applied for a passport. All he wanted to do was see some of the places his parents told him about.
And then, even though he was a criminal, he couldn't go back to the country he was born in because the government wouldn't give him the passport to return to it.
They are breaking the law every moment they stay here. They trespassed then they continue to squat.
