This was the warning I received when I announced my upcoming trip to friends and clients. "There are roving bands of Muslims", said one. "You won't even recognize London", said another. Then there are the news reports of the swarms of refugee rapists. Well, I just returned from my trip to Rome, San Marino, Venice, Monaco, Paris and London and I'm happy to report that all of the warnings are absolute BULLPUCKY. I walked ALL OVER these cities during my visit and I didn't see a single example of the supposed horrors that I was warned about, and I LOOKED for them. So, ignore the fear mongers and go ahead and book that vacation. You'll have a wonderful time. Just watch out for those obnoxious American tourists.
Reminds me of some wacky remark Trump made during his campaign - I think he supposedly quoted something his friend "Jim" said about how awful Paris was. When reporters tried to track this down, this appeared to be another lie/fantasy.
On the other hand, supposedly tourism to the U.S. is down (meaning we're losing money) as a result of Trump's rants.
That sounds like a wonderful trip! What's San Marino like?
My son spent the entire summer traveling Germany and guess what?!
No crisis, no problems. Heck my mother in law is from Bavaria and my son spent A LOT of time down there with relatives. That’s the conservative end of Germany.
Who told you these warnings? Before I traveled through Europe in an RV, everyone told me it was going to be awesome. It was. Now in east Germany, I saw "F*** USA" spray painted across an overpass. I did find that odd since I have never seen a message like that for Europe on the other side of the pond.
I've lived in the UK (I'm from the American southeast). It was fine, if not better than what I was used to in the States. Not perfect, but the elected officials were rather approachable, food quality was better, services were better. After having lived near Atlanta and in New Orleans, and NEVER felt as if I was in danger walking the streets of London or Glasgow.
I spent a week in Ireland this year and it was wonderful. The people were very friendly and I felt safe everywhere, even in Dublin. I probably would not go back to London though. Saw it in the 70's and the history hasn't changed since then so no reason to go back.
