Airports and inner-city high-value terrorism targets have always been heavily guarded. Germany had RAF (no, not that RAF), the UK had the IRA, Spain had ETA, France had Algierian separatists - those who think terrorism and defense against such is a recent invention are simply wrong. As was pointed out, some countries have a long tradition for paramilitary parallel police forces, and those traditionally subscribe to a military ethos, including carrying long arms while on duty.

It's worth looking into how those firearms are used, though. German police fired 75 rounds at people in 2017, killing 14, and that was a bad year.

In Europe on vacation right now, Salzburg Austria at the moment. All of the fear mongering is so ludicrous. Had a few people share their opinions of America's politics, surprise surpise, they are not fans. Also, had one of our hosts ask a lot of questions about our healthcare system, blew his mind. Oh well, I've learned a long time ago that you can't teach people who are proud to be ignorant.

Been to both the U.K. , all parts of it, many times and Europe a couple within the last few years and found it completely recognizable with far less reason to fear being there than I would be going about four blocks north of the White House.

Got lost, went into a liquor store to ask directions and was met by a counter man with a steel cage in front of him and an old 1911 in full view on the counter near him. A cop had seen us and came into the store asking me what the hell I thought I was playing at being in that neighbourhood after dark? He escorted us back to the Beltway.

Go, see for yourself indeed.

Trump was livid when the Embassy moved to the other side of the Thames from his beloved, elitist Mayfair. Called Battersea "lousy" and "horrible". He's mad that he would not be able to stay in Embassy accommodations at the Mayfair building on state visits to London!

You were in DC, which is supermajority black, yes, many neigborhoods are indeed dangerous places to be while white if you're not in the Capitol area.

I had a very similar experience to yours in Southern California. As a student, I went to look at a car advertised for sale in Lynwood. Where's that you might ask? Well, it turns out it is BETWEEN Watts and Compton.

The most immigrant filled and deadly part of European cities are still as safe as the average middle income neighborhood in America. I have said this a million times my Cousin lives in a no-go zone of Ponders End. Their's certainly crime of course but I didn't know Ponders End was a no-go zone until the U.S media said it was when I came back to America. Again, a places that has a high minority population doesn't mean it's unsafe. The U.S is a good 20%-30% more nonwhite than Europe and theirs plenty of areas that are majority minority that are plenty safe, hell the entire States of Texas, California, Nevada, Hawaii and New Mexico are majority nonwhite and not one of them is the murder capital although Texas nearly was when it was much whiter and New Mexico has a very high crime rate that for some reason doesn't correspond with an out of control murder rate. London is nowhere near it' murder rate high as many believe. Malmo literally the year after having a record-breaking 11 murders for a population of 300,000 had 5 or 6 the next year. I personally don't know the murder rate for Paris as all the data is in French, but the most dangerous countries in Europe excluding Russia are Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Which all manage to have a higher murder rate than Turkey....

The two groups with the most recorded amount of crimes per capita in the UK are shockingly: Romanians and Poles.

Amazingly more migrants come from these two countries than any other. Although their are higher Pakistani and Indian populations than Romanians these are mostly second or third generation.

So all those people you guys claimed are ruining London whether their pickpocketing or begging, they are disproportionally fellow Europeans.

Amazingly the country of Hungary has never had a year were it's murder rate has been lower than Germany, Italy, Spain or England in the last 17 or so years, and Poland is lurking roughly around England, Spain and Germany's rate of murder. Only France and Belgium have maintained a similar or higher rate than Hungary.

Essentially when you compare all the countries that have been "devastated" by Immigration it's a wash at who's murder rate is higher. Even when 94%+ White Glasgow (88% Scottish) went up against 60% White and (44% English) London, Glasgow has had the higher murder rate every year since before 2000. In fact at one point in the mid-2000s Glasgow was the murder capital of Western Europe. Someone said Germany's murder ate went up 10%, how much do you want to bet even with the 10% increase tha wasn't Germany's worst year for murder in that decade 2010-2017. In fact in 2016 when crime increased, it was followed by a 10% drop in crime across Germany in 2017...

I went to Paris and Rome and Florence, alone, in 2003 and 2005, during the time of the Iraq War! Had a ball, both places!

Anywhere you go, the general rules apply: Know your surroundings, use common sense and "don't start none, won't be none!"
