Many countries have more than one official language - Canada and Switzerland come readily to mind - and they function just fine. In fact, learning more languages as a child only enhances your opportunities later in life.

I think it's time for the USA to consider requiring both Spanish and English proficiency in schools as a requisite for graduation. Not only is there a huge spanish speaking population in the USA, many of the countries in the hemisphere speak only spanish. Imagine what an advantage it would be to Americans to be able to travel to Mexico, central and southern America and be able to communicate.

Spent time in Miami , there is definitely an arrogance of not wanting to speak English .
In L.A there are a lot of Spanish speakers but there isn’t the resistance to speaking English .

Tell that to the Taco Bell employee who could only speak Spanish. You're talking about Americans traveling to Latin America to be able to communicate, yet this black American lady was in the United States, in her OWN town, and couldn't get a taco at 2am. What a hypocrite you are. Yes there's a huge Spanish speaking population here but there's an even bigger English speaking one. And for those who don't know history, Miami was actually inhabited by majority English-speaking Americans some decades ago before it hit the fan in Cuba.

What am I hypocrite of? Why are you reacting so emotionally and so clueless at the same time?

We are not other countries BTW, The only people I usually hear complaining that we should speak 2 languages are Hispanic people who speak spanish, how convenient !!!

Why don't Hispanics learn Chinese, Russian or Arabic ?? I f you asked them this they would be crying the loudest.

If you don't want to learn English like all other groups coming here you should get the F out and go back, PERIOD !!!

I’m not surprised at all that a Spanish speaker in a Hispanic populated area would racially and linguistically discriminate against one of the few blacks in the area.

I heard this stuff happens in places like Miami all the time.
So true, Obama's "people of color" alliance only has socialism in common and a perceived mainly white obstacle. I'm not surprised either that Hispanics would discriminate against non-Hispanics even of color. It's pretty obvious they are ethnocentric which by the standards whites are held to is consider racism and supremacy.

Yeah really, they should be forced back even. Plenty of countries where Spanish is the predominate language so they don't have to go home, but they can't stay here.

Possibly. As I said they are able to take orders for food. I don't ask them for their papers. This woman in the video acted as if she could not understand the order and I suspect she was deliberately being a jerk.

In this case, the woman may be just plain LAZY and not wanting to try to speak English. In her mind, one or two customers lost is nothing. She has a poor work ethic which is why she is now unemployed.

Further, people of African descent in the U.S. are not waiting for Democrats or Republicans to legislate us out of poverty as the majority are not poor. People are more educated than ever before and are continuing on that path. And in the Miami area, many people of African descent are Caribbean immigrants and first-generation born and we certainly arent waiting on anyone.

You are correct , this is simply La Raza game playing at someone else's expense. This time it was against another person of color, which shows who the real racists are in this case.
