^^^^^ I absolutely agree. I'd also add that, IMO, an equally big piece of that pie (right next to (in the tin) what you mention above) was having a demanding father who (in addition to attention) withheld his approval. Lots of other people attempt to deal with/reconcile the conflicts that arise in their lives re that dynamic, but I have my doubts re Trump ever even having tried to do that.

Neediness and immaturity was enough to beat Hillary Clinton in a landslide electoral vote.

Maybe next time the left should elect a more formidable opponent.

Instead of throwing out the bums, seems Trump surrounded himself with new ones. Instead of "draining the swamp," we simply got another swamp to contend with, wonder about. A POTUS who instead of explaining why we needed a new health care plan, to cover people with previous conditions, we have a POTUS who explains what women will let you do to them under the right conditions.

Instead of a Noble Peace prize and a world impressed that America would actually elect a black POTUS, we get a wall that Mexico will pay for, and "thousands of Muslims" Trump said were cheering on 9/11. We get the best health care plan ever, never seen. An international trade war and now China cozying up with Russia. Instead of Michelle, we get hanky panky with porn stars and Playboy bunnies and even better, hush money paid in the $100 thousands to keep them quiet.

Not that any of this should have us wonder what else needs to be hushed...

Right, but what about the economy and our 401Ks?

I knew I shouldn't have started this thread, but I do surely miss the good old days before Trump started making America great again...
Do I miss the America I grew up in? Yes...I'm a Baby Boomer. If you mean do I miss the eight years of Barry...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO times a thousand.

Right, let's just ignore the former President's character flaws, and his use of government agencies to go after his enemies, the level of corruption that existed in his administration, and his "I am greater than thou" attitude. Have you forgotten his response to Republicans at a WH meeting with Party leaders? "I won," he said. In other words, "you have no say in anything."

Obama is no prince, even though he may think he is.

By the way, I don't need you to post a Wiki article for me, explaining the meaning of "projection." But I'm glad to see you know how to look something up in Wikipedia.

Most of America's problems really began after 9/11 with Bush normalizing torture, expending the surveillance state, perpetual wars in the middle east, etc. But you could say they began even earlier during the 70s when the American worker (who got much of their rights in the 40s post great depression) was slowly made more and more irrelevant in the guise of fighting communism and all socialism is just a gateway drug to a marxist takeover.

Trump may tweet things you don't like, but if you think America was better before you have swallowed the kool-aid of CNN and MSNBC.

In some ways, maybe America is better off. Most of you will question the media more (undermining trust in propaganda outlets such as CNN and MSNBC is a good thing), distrust your government and intelligence agencies more. Americans were too (and still are) unquestioning of their government believing the American government was and is democratic and they're free, and American military intervention through the rest of the world is out of some noble altruism. Americans need to face up to the reality that they're ruled by a cabal of very large corporations in bed with the military complex. When you realize this, Trump's tweets will seem the least of your worries.

Don't miss one thing about it. Bush 2 broke us with two failed wars and Obamabutt forced healthcare on us. I hated both of them with a passion. Worst clowns ever to be in office with Bush1 being next.
