my people are the people of the world, the human race. i dont care about skin color, or their religion, or lack there of. i care about a persons character, and i see the potential in people everywhere. i also take people individually, i try never to paint people with a broad brush.

It's telling that some people, most people, maybe, think "their people" have to share the same political views as them. If I had a "my people," it would probably be creative folks -- writers, painters, fellow photographers, actors and musicians/singers.

I found this an interesting statement since many times artists and other creative folks do not see the world logically or rationally. That's one reason I Like artists and creative people. I'm not saying our views on them can't be both right though, just making an observation

At best that is tribalism, and that is what is so divisive in the US.

"My people" are whomever I 'click' with, regardless of their gender, nationality, religion, politics, or whatever.

In the South, "my people" usually refers to your lineage. My people come from different countries, different regions, different races, different ethnicities, different religions, different political alliances, different economic standings. We run the gamut. I'm a proud mutt. But if asked to describe myself, my FIRST thought would be, I am an American.

If you have no negative impact on the life of myself or my family, either directly or through the things you advocate, I'm OK with you. We might not be friends, but I'd be glad to have you as a neighbor.
