I had a math teacher in 7th grade who went off the rails every day, in a good way. You had no idea what you were going to learn... Science, stock market but he always manged to bring it around to the math he was teaching. Best teacher I ever had, it was one I looked forward to and I hated school. Even the unruly students paid attention in his class.

If people would have family dinner and really discuss what happened at school today this would not be an issue.

Our kids heard all kinds of things. It was an opportunity to have a discussion about why we had the POV we did.

All the kids used to joke if they didn't know current events and have an opinion, it would be no dessert for them.

Our kids continued the same practice with their kids.

DD did balk when the bus matron told the elementary kids about Clinton and the BJ. Finding a way to talk about that with a 9 YO was not easy. DD never forgave Bill Clinton, nor should she have. She did not vote for him and never would have.

People in my district are scared to start a young GOP group at the high school. Kids lie about their political views on college apps because if they admit to being conservative, they won't get it. It's nuts.
