IPSOS just released state polls for Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada and Texas.

They asked each person polled to list their top issue. I thought that it was interesting how overwhelming concern with immigration was for Republicans as opposed to Independents and Democrats.

Reuters/IPSOS Polls
Percent picking immigration as top issue by Party ID

Arizona

Republican 36%
Independent 6%
Democrat 8%

California

R= 36%
I= 23%
D= 9%

Florida

R= 26%
I= 5%
D= 6%

Nevada

R= 42%
I= 19%
D= 6%

Texas

R= 32%
I= 9%
D= 8%

In every state, Republicans chose immigration as the top issue. Conversely, both Democrats and Independents chose Healthcare as the top issue in Arizona, Florida, Nevada and Texas. California was the only state of the 5 in which Independents listed Immigration as a more important issue than Healthcare.

Food for thought.

I guess “kids in cages” was not a real concern but faux political outrage

It tells me that there isn’t widespread fear and loathing of immigration and culture change outside of the Republican base.
