And as someone else posted earlier, the lie goes in the headlines, whereas the correction is buried (pun intended) on page 7A, perhaps next to the obits.

But again, the reason Jayson Blair was able to get away so long was due to the policy put in place by the NYT, namely of unrestricted use by reporters of anonymous sources. The problem was not only with the individual, but with the paper too.

I just read Ed Klein's book Guilty as Sin about Hillary Clinton. BTW some interesting stuff in there about James Comey and the email investigation. The way he portrays it, Comey really would have loved to go after Hillary.

But his last chapter is 'A note on sources' where he talks about the use of anonymous sources. He claims to have sources deep inside the White House, the DOJ, the FBI, etc. and he quotes them at length. He says:
